And you think we're pissed about OUR basketball team?

For all those guys that think we should just chase highly ranked players by the services:

2010:
4-star
4-star
3-star
unranked JUCO

2011:
4-star
4-star
4-star
3-star
Unranked JUCO
Unranked Euro

2012:
5-star

2013:
4-star
4-star
Unranked JUCO

So over the past 4 years that's (1) 5-star, (7) 4-star, (2) 3-star, (2) unranked JUCO and (1) Unranked Euro

You should be pretty damn good at this point right? No, you are Alabama.

All of one game ahead of Ray's sandlot roster in the league standings.

I just don't trust the ratings for basketball players from the SE - most of they guys turn out to be very mediocre. Haven't really looked to see what happened to all these guys, but damn that's a terrible return on those classes.

I could be wrong, but I think out of all of those seemingly decent recruiting classes ........................

you won't find one decent big man. Not one. And it doesn't help that Grant can't develop players worth a ****. Of course, Bama couldn't give any less of a **** about basketball.

Bama and Auburn give enough of a **** to fire their coaches soon which is exactly why we need to go get Bruce Pearl right now.

Anthony Grant has shown that he can coach. So I guess it is more complicated just having a good coach and a bunch of recruits with "stars":

Record at VCU:

Virginia Commonwealth:76–25 (.752)45–9 (.833)

Record at Alabama:

Alabama:95–66 (.590)42–34 (.553)

Overall Record:

Total:171–91 (.653)

Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas have signed higher rated classes than MSU in most years going pretty far back. The team that Grant inherited was LOADED. We've recruited well, but its made us competitive in that regard, not superior to many of our rivals.

Basketball ratings are somewhat hit or miss all over, not just in the Southeast, because they are often based upon athleticism as much as skill. The highest rated players usually have both and are good bets. But a lot of four stars are based in large part on athleticism. Johnny O'Bryant is a good example. He talked about jumping to the NBA, and this guy was a crazy athlete with good size, but it was obvious he'd need some time to develop in college, since he averaged only 17 and 12 in high school. Straignt to NBA guys like Al Jefferson and Jonathan Bender averaged closer to 40/20.

Star ratings plus good high school or JUCO stats are a good indicator. Guys usually aren't going to recreate the same stats in college that they did in high school or JUCO, so if they aren't every impressive, that is a bad sign.

I said it the other day, but I really think the league "culture" and the style of play that has been allowed by the refs over the past decade and a half to two decades has destroyed the league in basketball.

Slive thinks he is helping by forcing teams to play better schedules, when he really needs to work on the officiating and the style of play the refs let us play. It may make the league even worse (hard to imagine) for a couple of years, but the SEC will come out better for it a few years from now.

You might be on to something here. I wish the SEC would all start playing very fast basketball. Use the athletes we have a plethora of to our advantage. Sort of like how the SEC DL in football are all so much faster than any other conference. Can the SEC go to a :30 second shot clock with all other conferences at :35?

He had 3 players leave that were going to be starters most likely. Lacey, Pollard and Gueye(sp?). Maybe some others too. His players don't like him. He'll be fired soon.
