For those who want BG to leave I don’t get it. Understand that ZERO teams have won a national championship since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985 without having at least two returnees in the starting lineup. If we lose BG, we won’t be able to have two returnees in the starting lineup. Our chances of winning a title are seriously affected by his decision. Just keep that in mind.

We have a play making PG, A play making Stretch 4, a few dogs in Oweh, Mo D, JQ 2 really good guards. If we can get one more Combo Guard, Wilkerson or maybe another player from Europe we will be totally set. We will have exactly what we need no matter who is on the floor. I hope BG stays, gets better, shoot a ton of shots in the summer and fall, figures out how to rebound and block out. We now have the inside, outside and upside to down anyone.

I don't want him to leave especially with the JQ injury. But he sounded close before and this might get him to leave.

Hopefully he's a good passer and rebounder. His stats don't indicate he's a good shooter or shot blocker.

BG did not start. Oweh is the only starter. Amari started for UK. Some of the old metrics on that kind of thing will be changing over the next 10 years, Since free agency in college sports.

Read it better, sorry about that. I get what you are saying, 2 guys from year before starter or other, that starts the following year.

But still I think free agency now allow for a new metric. Next few years will tell.

We don’t know that yet. I do know I’ve looked at about 35 rosters myself the last couple of days and I want BG to stay. Again zero have done what we would be having to do without him. Just get BG back, MP

This is a great replacement for the void Carr is leaving behind. I know Carr struggled at times this year, but I think once conference play started he was never 100% health wise again—playing in the super athletic SEC didn’t help him either with dealing with that back injury.

When Carr was at his best, and when he was healthy, he was a threat from all three levels of the floor. One of the BEST ways to stretch the floor is to have a 4/PF who is a threat from anywhere. Zelavic brings that to the table.

Zelavic is a perfect fit for Pope’s system. Our front court should be set. Next year will feature an added level of size, strength, and athleticism that was sorely lacking this past year.

Guys , dont get twisted from the highlight vids. ... he's a 32% 3pt shooter. hope he can improve that number but dont expect a great shooter because that would be unfair to the kid when you realize he's not a sharp shooter.

Now what to get excited for is he's more fluid facing the basket and his potential.
Agree. Keep in mind that we are all watching his "highlight" videos. Would have rather had Alvaro by a lot, but still optimistic with the signing. Welcome!

European players don't usually translate to the college game, but we desperately needed a stretch 4. Hopefully this kid is the outlier.

I see this as the shooter and they move Williams to the 2. I think this is a sign about Wilkerson. Jelavic is a dang good add
I’d be all for that. We’d be so long and athletic.

Edit*** forgot Dioubate

Lowe/Jasper/Chandler
Kam/Jasper/Chandler
Oweh/Dioubate/Noah
Jelavic/Garrison/Dioubate /Noah
JQ/MM/Garrison

**assuming Garrison stays

Back in 2021, the scouting the under 18 players. The Ivisic brothers were there too. Here is what the Envergure had to say about him about 3-4 years ago, back then he was playing in Slovenia before moving to Serbia.

The Croatian from the Slovenian flagship club is one of the pleasant surprises of the Belgrade edition. An intriguing physique combining long limbs with an interesting width of torso. The problem is his athleticism, but he plays with desire, he doesn't give up anything and above all, he has a big engine under the hood. Offensively, he is capable of doing a little bit of everything, but what stands out most is his shot. He is capable of being dangerous on catch-and-shoot, shot after dribble, and if the 3-point percentages are not the stuff of dreams, his gestures are good and should be a success in the years to come. He plays facing the basket, can drive on both sides, but still needs to develop his dribbling. His basketball IQ is remarkable, his off-ball game excellent. He is not a very good post player currently: he will have to lift some weights. Defensively, for the moment, it's not that good, except for rebounding. Too slow, not flexible enough to defend against the small players, not powerful enough to defend against the big players.”

Since then he added some weight now about 225lbs and played at one of the best Serbian teams. Obviously, being European we should not expect him to be a defensive stopper, but for that we have the Alabama transfer. This a very good get.

Not sure why by a lot. He played for Bob Morris in a lesser and only had about 4 games against high competition. He did good in all 4 but AJ played in the best Serbian leagues against grown men. I agree about the highlight vids you really cannot tell by that. If the guy has a motor and can play defense as well as shoot and pass/rebound then we are good. AF would be no worse for us hf he was here but this is not a step down to me.

Screw Cal's platoon system. We might have the makings of Pitino's hellacious pressure.

Pope could possibly press for 40 minutes and get scores up in the high 90s next season if we add Wilkerson to the roster. Williams, Chandler, JQ, Mo D, and Lowe are all high-level defenders who would fit a press perfectly.

You know Pope goes to bed tonight dreaming of that scenario. Instead of sugar plum fairies dancing in his head, he has flashbacks of Mercer, Delk, Anderson, Sheppard, Turner, and Walker putting on the full-court press!

He’s not the only one!

Is this guy a starter?

Maybe those wanting to get rid of BG need to slow their roll.

This guy doesn’t really look any better than BG.

32% vs. 30%. Not much of an improvement.

Don’t get me wrong I want this kid, but I want BG back as well.

He’s a better overall player imo and he’s played in a competitive EuroLeague for years.

Alvaro seems to be a much more consistent shooter, plus he is already accustomed to the college game. More often than not, European players don't translate at the college level. I just would have chose Alvaro over Jelavic without hesitation.
