Just noticed that Andy Katz posted a little bit of an update about Dee Bost's case for reinstatement.

Here's an excerpt:

"According to a source with knowledge of the case, the NCAA has
questions about who paid for Bost to work out in Las Vegas for a
three-week period while he was supposedly prepping for the draft. The
NCAA has asked for phone records and check receipts from Bost to see how
the trip was paid for.

</p>

Joe Abunassar, a trainer for NBA
draft picks and current NBA players, said Bost was at his facility in
Las Vegas for the three-week period. But Abunassar said an invoice was
sent out and paid. </p>

</p>

"We sent it to Dee Bost, not to the
school," Abunassar said. "Someone from his family had called us and said
that we need to do this right and get the kid back in school. It was
definitely someone in his family, an uncle or someone, maybe his mom,
but we sent it to him. The bill was paid. It was not some weird deal."</p>

Though Paul feels he might not be eligible for the fall semester due to grades. Who knows?

If there wasn't anything shady then it should be easy to show who:

1. wrote the check by providing the cancelled check
2. wired the money by providing the wire receipt
3. sent a cashier's check (see #1)
4. used a credit card by providing the statement.

If they mailed a wad of cash then yeah there will be a problem.

Of course, then the NCAA is going to ask for tax returns to prove how the money ended up in the checking account to begin with.

If the money came from an other than shady source this shouldn't be a concern. I have my doubts.

By us, I mean Bost and Stansbury. If you have followed the soap opera known as Mississippi State basketball for the past 10 years or so, this is typical of the kind of drama we seem to thrive on in our program. Is (fill in the blank) going to be eligible? Is (fill in the blank) transferring? I heard (fill in the blank) has looked great in workouts. And on and on and on.

So now the question is not what did Dee (not) know and when did he (not) know it.....now the question is who paid for his trip to Vegas. Great.

The fact they're even asking this question points to them reinstating him.Unless he did receive illegal benefits and even then he'd just have to pay them back and sit out a short suspension. The amount that they're questioning here is very small compared to the amount they were questioning in the Sidney case. We're talking about hundreds of dollars here, not 10s of thousands like we were then.

because if they were going to disallow him based on the deadline for withdrawal why would any of this Vegas mess even matter?

My guess is they give signals that the withdrawal issue is not a problem, they just need toget the proper paper work regarding payment of the camp. That process will consist of:
Bost providing invoice and credit card statement.
NCAA asks for evidence of payment of credit card bill.
Bost provides cancelled check.
NCAA asks for all bank records with all debits and creditsdescribed and justified.
Bost provides (probably November/December at this point).
NCAA asks for tax record of Bost immediate family for past 7 years.
Bost provides for 3.
NCAA - 17 you andsuspension for rest of year, plus 9 games of senior year.
