Lot of positives in the past week with winning 2 of last 3. Today's win was huge because we took on a team that we should beat and took care of business. And Barbee has a full team and is in his third year as coach. If Ray can recruit, I think we should see great progress pretty quickly.

Our starting five probably matched up with or were better than half the teams in the SEC. It's the 17'ing depth that got us

I like your thinking on this but I have to strongly disagree. Maybe Auburn and South Carolina this year. Next year maybe half of the conference

I don't think our starting five even match up well with those two. Of the many problems with this team, depth is down the list. These are 18-22 year olds. They can handle lots of minutes. If we play 5 vs. 5 against every team on our schedule, I think we win about the same number of games.

I think depth was huge issue especially with suspensions. This exacerbated the issue.

When Ray gets a compliment of not only depth but people playing their natural position, I believe we will see more wins.

Now should he prove that he can recruit successfully and get this type of effort out of more talented players, we could see a lot of wins. It is fun watching the effort his style brings.

Are you kidding me?

Our starting five did not come close to matching up with or being better than half the teams in the SEC...not even close.

Disagree. We need a major upgrade down low to be competitive in the league. I hope Ndoye pans out, because we need his size desperately.

We can build off this year, though. If Borchert and Thomas can continue to improve their stroke, this team will improve quite a bit next year. Hopefully, the injured players will help cut down on the turnovers.

We'll be fine down low next season if indeed Lewis is returning. Ndoye needs to redshirt. But we need to sign some size in this next class for sure.

Next year we should be a 16-18 win team. Having actual PG's, plus just the growth of the Freshmen to Sophomores will be huge in itself. Ray has showed quite a bit this year and deserves a big pat on the back and another year extension

I dunno about Lewis. He still has not showed me much more than just being a body on the court. Other than his timely bucket to allow us to hear Jack wrap it one last time, I can't remember any game where he showed me anything more than a guy who should be playing at South Alabama, not the SEC.

Agreed about Ray.

I think our starting 5 matches up about even with USC & Auburn. But there's no way in this world if we played 5 on 5 against every team on our schedule we wouldn't have won a few more games.

Lewis wont be a bad bench player- giving us 15-18mins/game. As a 5th yr guy he should know what's going on and be able to give us some solid D

I think Ware can be a solid 12/7 guy next year and Borchert's shot should be more consistent. We'll be ok with a full roster- that alone will make us better from being able to practice to not being exhausted during games

You just said we needed some bigs down low, but then you act like you could take or leave Lewis? I think Lewis is a huge factor going into next year. There were a few games just before his injury, where it looked like a switch may have flipped for Lewis. If he comes back, and that switch is on to where he gives us everything he has next season...we could possibly make the NIT. Obviously, it's not all on Lewis, but if we're going to compete, we need a shot blocker and a good rebounder. Lewis provides that for us, and can even be good on offense from time to time.

After what we've seen here at the end of season, it looks like we may actually have a hard time determining who starts next year.

Point Guard? Likely J. Davis, IJ Ready

Shooting Guard? Sword, Flat top Fred, Jalen Steele

Small Forward? Borchert, Applewhite

Power Forward? Ware, Lewis, Borchert

Center? Lewis, Ware

Basketball is not a strong suit for me, but we could improve tremendously in talent next year just by getting healthy. There's some talent in that group above.

ETA: I completely left out Roq Johnson and some of the new signees.

We possibly don't lose to Alabama A&M. That's it as far as I can see.

The amazing thing is if he had the full roster without injuries and suspensions this team would probably be .500 and looking at the NIT.

Not that the NIT is the holy grail but you get the point.

OK, Mrs. Lewis. I don't see your son as the answer to our problems down low.

There's no way we would play Borchert at the 3- we would be slow as **** on defense

Should be something like:

PG- Davis, Ready
SG- Sword, Steele, Applewhite
SF- Thomas, Applewhite
PF- Borchert, Johnson
C- Ware, Lewis

That gives us depth. Should be a much improved team next year and the NIT should be a real possibility

Far from "Mrs Lewis", just pointing out the contradiction in your posts. We need bigs...Lewis is a big, and an experienced one. Just sayin, sorry if I upset you.

The Recruiter recruited him. Obviously he's better than anyone Ray could bring in. Obviously.

Just don't see 16 wins! You are counting on a PG coming off ACL surgery that when he was healthy signed with North Florida[I bet you cant even tell me where North Florida is located, hell , I didnt know they had a basketball team]. Next, dont count on Applewhite, another ACL who one of our assistants told us cant play in SEC. Steele- now 2 ACLs, enough said. Ndoye is at best a project. HC at UALR told a buddy Ready is not good enough to compete in SEC. We HAVE to recruit better! Our talent base is not good.Unless ray runs someone off, he says he is done with recruiting this year, another direct quote from Ray himself. We just need more players1

Great points...but we won 9 games without any of those players, so are you expecting us to be worse? The same? Or a little better? We were in a few games this year that we didn't win in the SEC, and we lost a few games in the non conference that we will not lose next year (Troy, Alabama A&M). Factor in that we will not be playing North Carolina, Texas, Marquette, or Providence hopefully to start the season, and you could easily see another 4-6 wins in non conference play alone. Pick up another 2-3 wins in the SEC, and you're right there at 16-17 wins. It may not happen or be likely, but if our schedule is easier in the non conference as it should be...16-18 wins is very possible.

We would have won 7 SEC games this year if we had had just 1 more scholarship player to rotate in. We also wont be losing to any Alabama A&M's next year. That would have given this bunch 13 wins this year alone.

We will have an easier OOC next season. We will have some healthy players- Davis and Applewhite will be 15 months post surgery come next season. They also have had a year to mature and grow.

Your mindset is the same that said we wouldnt win 1 SEC game this season before the season started- yet we won 4 and didnt finish last- despite all the injuries and suspensions. Anybody that isnt expecting at least 15 wins next year needs to raise their expectations.

Exactly! We were up on LSU by what-30 points or something? We just ran out of steam because we couldn't rotate. So our starting five were better than or equal to LSU, aTm, OM, AU, SC, UGA and probably Vandy's too. That's 7 teams. 14/2=7. So we were better than or equal to half our league with a full roster.

Well, he probably is better than anyone that Ray has committed so far. But hopefully that will change.

I was being a smartass and pointing that Stans was an overrated recruiter. Roquez and Lewis as my evidence.

Ray will do fine. I don't think NIT next year is a stretch.
