Announced this evening. He will resign his new appointment as Lafayette AD to remain head football coach. His desire and love of Lafayette football was simply too great to be up in the stands in September and off the practice fields. I wondered how a truly great and incredibly successful head coach could go the seat next to me in the stands! A dozen applicants were interviewed and an unnamed applicant was offered the job but declined. At that point the decision became clear to Linn to stay on. Nice to see ethics and love of the kids and program to triumph over a few dollars and new title. Rare these days to see such unselfish commitment! Welcome back Coach Linn!!

Nah, I think it was all a legit situation from the start. I think the school system either required or desired that the AD only be the AD. I'm sure Coach Linn decided he would be happier, and could be more useful if he remained in the head coach position. At a school of the Class 3 size or larger, (generally speaking), it's asking an awful lot of one person to coach one of the primary sports, and be the Activities Director, too. Maybe, if the AD has an assistant or two, it may not as difficult. But, with the vast number of activities going on in our schools today, the AD has his/her hands full. I do realize that many schools have very little choice because of resources. And those that wear multiple hats really give a lot of themselves.
