I can never remember what year that game was. Probably because I try to forget about it.

Since all logical games have been covered.
In Jackson, we were ahead with about 2:30 to go, and we had just put their starting QB out of the game.
Their 2nd teamathletic QBmoved them down the field...mostly with his scrambling ability, we lost about the last play of the game 22 to 24.

I was past angry, lesson learned, the Sun will come up the next day...We are MSU!</p>

Me and my cousin were watching from the student section. We were starving and thirsty, hadn't had anything to drink or eat for most of the day. Got pissed watching 3 quarters of pathetic football. We decided to leave and go to abner's with like 13 minutes left in the 4th quarter. We left when MSU lined up to punt the football to Ole Miss on the drive where they went for it on 4th and 1. We were both very pissed. I remember we weren't far from the stadium when we heard the crowd roar on that 4th and 1 stand. We just got to his truck when we heard the crowd again (when State scored) and quickly got in the truck and turned the radio to the game. Listened to Pegues take the punt return back and made it to Abner's in time to watch the game winning FG.

Tuberville, Patridge, 2 pt conversion. Long walk to the car.

I heard the blown back FG and the Dick Pace game on the radio, glad I wasn't there for either.

State winning 17-14, TSUN is on the State 25 and throws to endzone with 13 seconds left in game. State intercepts the underthrown pass but Dick Pace rules pass interference, and gives TSUN the ball on the 1 yard line. They scored and won the game with 2 seconds remaining.

Terry LeCount did us in on that last drive. We had Florida stopped on 4th down around midfield when Mike Lawrence pulled down LeCount right on the Florida sideline. Freakin' ref threw a flag for unnecessary roughness. A few plays later LeCount scrambled from 20 yards out for the winning TD.

While I'm at it, the USM game that same year was equally disgusting. Early in the game, we break off a 90+ run to go up 7-0. And that was it for us. I can still see Duane Brown nailing the buzzard linebacker at the end of the game who basically walked into the endzone for the winning td.

And the Southern game was bad also,
BUT, this was a maturing game for me.

1. BYU, 2001 - We were flat screwed by the Mountain West refs in this one, and I knew it, you knew it, and the American people knew it.

2. The Maine Debacle - Actually broke a cowbell leaving this one. Hit it against a support pillar on the west side, and one of the side welds broke.

3. 3-2 - Nobody left this game happy. Not us, not the Auburn fans, nobody.

4. La Tech 2008 - Nearly got in a fight with a State fan following this one.

And the one requiring the most explanation....

5. 2005, at Kentucky - Nobody saw this game, because it was in Kentucky, and because both teams went into it with sterling 1-5 records. Nobody believes me, but I think Rich Brooks would have lost his job had he lost this game. This game was notable for one thing, it's the game where Jerious Norwood became the career rushing leader. We lost 13-7, in large part because our esteemed head coach at the time seemed to forget that the university's career rushing leader was actually ON HIS 17ING FOOTBALL TEAM. No, seriously. From 8:59 of the 1st quarter to halftime, Norwood ran the ball three times for a total of 24 yards. This was a span of five drives and 25 offensive plays, not counting punts (there were four, Money Mike took a sack for a turnover the other time). Three runs, from the guy who was your career rushing leader. Insane. Croom also spent lots of time rotating Norwood and Brandon Thornton, who admittedly gained a respectable 6.6 yards per carry on ten carriers and got the lone Bulldog TD, but also was not YOUR CAREER RUSHING LEADER IN A GAME ULTIMATELY DECIDED BY LESS THAN A TOUCHDOWN. Not to be outdone, the aforementioned Money Mike took the opening drive of the 2nd half all the way to the Kentucky 3-yard-line before politely setting the ball on the ground so that Kentucky could take over. We was tired, yall. My anger was compounded by the fact that due to personal circumstances, I had driven to Lexington day of game, and had to drive back immediately following. Aside from last year's Alabama game, which preceded the birth of my child by three days, this was the only game in the last 129 games that I have left early, and it paid off, because I got to share my opinion of the refereeing with head ref Rocky D. Goode as the referee van drove by. I don't remember the specific refereeing offenses of that game anymore, but I do remember a UK fan at a gas station afterwards commenting to me about how terrible the refereeing was and me agreeing.

Froze my butt off in that same endzone - my dad still reminds me of sitting there freezing to watch those crappy playcalls by Watson every time I go to a cold weather game

a beer bottle at a tree. I just had to break something I was so pissed. Course I missed the tree, which made me even more pissed. The SECCG didn't really piss me off...guess I was just glad to be there.

Five that haven't been mentioned, or only brought up a couple of times...

5. at Houston, 2003.

Flew to Houston with friends - met some Texas A&M friends. Walked up to their piss poor stadium and we were down 28-0 before you knew it. We came back and made it respectable, but it was a big planned trip which was absolutely horrible.

4. at Oklahoma State, 1998

We were 3 touchdowns better than Oklahoma State that year and lost. Nastiest opposing fans ever sans Clemson baseball. We went on and won the SEC West. OSU was 5-6. Of all the games we have lost where we were the better team, this one stings the most. A long drive back from Stillwater that Sunday.

3. Cotton Bowl vs. Texas, 1998.

We didn't show up. Ricky Williams couldn't be stopped. It was a miserable end to a great season.

2. The 11-8 win over Troy State

Before 3-2, this was the game that I just wanted to forget I witnessed.

1. Butler, NCAA Tournament, 2003

Only time in my life I ever threw something toward the playing surface. I was pissed.

to 4-7 (2-6) LSU 41-6. Just proof, regardless of where and when, we probably won't beat LSU. (Praying for this season).

In that game, Wayne Madkin called a timeout before our first play. Knew it was going to be a long day.

Wow, I tell you..... so many awful memories in this thread. The most physically mad I think I have ever left a State game was '99 Alabama. Refs hosed us, and I had to be restrained from jumping the old Event Staff guy who was standing in front of our section taunting us. I was livid.<div>
</div><div>But I tell you what....this threat just makes me happy that we are in a different regime now. With this staff, I don't think you will ever see a Maine or Troy State happen again.</div>

Good thing I have MSU football for some job security. We need group therapy after the 2000's. Makes you appreciate the new leadership that much more.

<div>Runners up:</div><div>Auburn 1990 - scored a late TD that brought us within one at 17-16. Rockey was too chickenshit to go for two, and the Tigers blocked the extra point. We couldn't get the ball back and it was game over and career over for Rockey.
</div>
I think we did get the ball back. I realize that's 21 years ago so my memory may not be accurate, but I have in mind our D held and they had to punt but there was just practically no time left to do anything.

Having said that, here's my list:

1) LSU 2009- the fact that we haven't beaten them in over a decade heightened the pain on this one. Only game I've ever literally lost sleep over.
2) SEC Tourney Championship vs UK 2010- Absolute heartbreaker.
3)La Tech 2008- I didn't say over 10 words between Ruston, LA and Jackson, MS.
4) Houston 2009- Nice little combination of bad call and anger at our QB for not just tucking it and getting the first down.

Luckily I wasn't present for the Maine game and some of the others mentioned.

I still say that 2010 bball loss in the SEC Champ game to KY is the most painful loss I have ever been through as a fan in any sport. That was absolutely brutal. One last second play (and of course, it involved a missed call) is the difference in NCAA Tournament/ SEC Champ and not.

The icing on the cake with the La Tech game was Chaney's season-endinginjury on a meaningless play near the end when the game was already lost, if memory serves.

I just remember being numb after LSU 09. I thought we finally had them beat. I was confident. Then it somehow slips away.

Houston 09....yeah, that one hurt....illegal forward pass...please. And one of the many close losses that year to keep us out of a bowl.

I was at that game, the famous Wes Shivers fight game. I remember that because we looked great on either our first or second drive of the game when we scored our first TD. Then we couldn't move the ball AT ALL the rest of the game.

The only problem for MSU is that even though you dominated from basically 5 minutes in until the last 5 minutes of the game, your offense failed to capitalize and put up more than the 2 TDs. From an Ole Miss fan's perspective, that was the least fun exciting win I think I've ever seen for us. I just never felt like we were even in the game.

We definitely stole that game only looking good for maybe 10 of the 60 minutes at most. I want to say MSU was 7-4 after that loss and missed out on a bowl game, while we went to one at 7-4.

That was the not all that old days when 7-4 didn't even lock up a bowl for you. We went to the Motor City, and that was outside of the few SEC tie-ins, and I believe we were the last SEC team to get a bid that year.

52-0 @ UF was horrible because the seats we scored were in the middle of the UF staff section. Obnoxious folks.
Maine was mind-numbing as the game went on, couldn't believe the "Black Bear" of golf-cart fame was so bewildered by the ones on the other side.

Really, there have been too many sucky ones to sort through.

Saw a Maine tag on a car in Tupelo today that had the University of Maine on it with the Maine Bear logo. And the game pissed me off again. And I'm sure they have forgotten about the game altogether. I don't know if ill ever completely get over that game to the point where all is forgiven to the guilty parties of that debacle.

Missed the opening 2 games. We looked like monkeys 17ing footballs. I remember we finally scored 3rd game into the season thinking wow we got a c-usa team we can come back. Long story short I left at half knowing it was a debacle in the making. Guess one of the bright spots we beat Jacksonville st for homecoming.

..Bullard hits a 3 with only a few seconds left on the clock, all but assuring victory.

Then the Bama player from Pearl, MS (forgot his name) hit a 3 from almost half court with no time remaining, giving Bama the win.

When I was leaving the Hump that day, if you would have told me this team was going to make the Final 4, I would have punched you in the mouth.
