We used to own the SEC in baseball, then in the nineties we let LSU take our place. Since then, we have consistently gotten worse and now even our rival to the north is making us look like who'd of thought it. Our players act like rookies who have no motivation whatsoever. They seem to be fundamentally inept - can't field, can't hit when the game is on the line, can't pitch worth a flip - all these things have a few exceptions, but overall they are very poor in all respects. To me (I hate to say it), the poor overall condition reflects on our coaching. It makes me wonder if we have the right coach to bring us back. I don't care for some of his on-field decisions and I don't like this business of talking the players down in public. If he wants to do it in private, that's one thing, but not in front of reporters like Veasey, who is just looking for something negative anyway. I'm just down and out about where we are with our baseball program. This has been a proud program for many, many years. We've enjoyed success for a long time and now it looks like the devil. I believe there are some boys sitting in the dormitory that can pitch and field better than this bunch. For my part, I'll be glad when this season is over and I hope there are some kids out there somewhere that are willing to come and play up to our standards. Sorry for the rant. I hope I haven't offended anyone in particular. For those who wonder, yes, I have season tickets.
