Can anyone explain the heck CT Bradford is batting cleanup? For one he is hurt and as Cohen says is playing with "one shoulder". Two he has no power to speak of although got lucky on one homer run. And even before the injury was sporting a .270 batting average. He has to be the smallest clean up hitter in the SEC. Can anyone else explain what Cohen is seeing here?

Maybe if you put a CT Bradford there at least he won't try to hit the ball out of the park and that way everyone can just try to hit line drives. That's been the most surprising and disappointing thing to me about Cohen's tenure at MSU. I just knew he was going to bring in a few players that could mash the ball. But it's the same bunch of punch and judy hitters we had with Polk II.

....and this is why I am on Butch all the time.

If you are going to play in a big yard, we need to win by being mentally tougher than everybody else, playing small ball, and most importantly with great pitching.

I think Cohen has us mentally tough. I think we manufacture runs ok, but our pitching, when it should be great, is average (this year and last), and when it should be average, it's terrible (the first two years).

What's Patty Mac doing these days?

Personally, I say bring in the fences and recruit a bunch of gorilla ballers and let's go to work. Then our pitching staff can give up 6 and will win by two runs.

well if you are going off a typical lineup and just set it each day, you aren't going to agree with what I am about to say.

Cohen has had 32 different lineup combinations in our 32 games, so in short ...he is just looking for a spark.

in long, it makes sense to me to have frazier leading off, he works most of the counts, and seems to have a lot of good at-bats
then you would have bradford number 2 or leading off because he delivers the best on contact bat and can move runners over, while having him in the top2 spots you provide him with more abs
However, as you said CT is hurt so in essence we are bringing him back without asking him to do everything ...last week in the the aub series he batted in the 5-hole

another option is if we could get 1 of the top 3 to get onbase ...get CT our best hitter to move them over, then you would have them in scoring position with norris or rea behind him to drive them in.

No CT is not a power hitting 4-hole guy, but in our ballpark ...that really isn't what is going to win us games, we need to hit line drives and be aggressive on the basepaths

We had 25hits out of 97abs this weekend, for an average of .257 ...saturday game killed us going 5 for 36 and 10k's
CT was 1-4; 1-5; 1-4 ...this weekend
Meanwhile, our 2-3 hitters this weekend 1-5;1-10; 0-4 with 2bb

But we did have our most consistent offensive output* of the season this weekend. Wouldn't be surprised if we see it again.

..if you'll recall, last year Bradford was probably the best clutch hitter on the team. Especially towards the end of the season & on into post-season play.

I suppose Cohen is holding out hope that hot streak of hitting will return.

But until that hot streak of hitting returns (which it hasn't), I agree: He should not be batting clean-up.
