In the NFL a sack counts against a team's passing yardage since it is a passing play. However it does not count against the quarterback's individual passing yardage. If Drew Brees throws for 290 but gets sacked three times for -30 yards, Brees gets credited for 290 passing yards but the team passing yardage is 260. I like this method better instead of counting quarterback rushing yards on plays he was trying to pass the ball.
