during the first shootings. He's convinced it was individuals' "access to guns" in the US that caused the original tragedy...<div>
</div><div>I explained that if we all had guns, this crap would actually be less likely to happen...</div><div>
</div><div>I've yet to get his take on this most recent "craziness"....</div><div>

Fortunately we are across campus from the Coliseum lot where this occurred. Apparently the first shooting took place during a routine traffic stop. The second shooting has apparently occurred just down the street in the "Cage" lot....

Access has really slowed down the drug trades too, huh?<div>I guess he'd like to ban cars, or at least access to them, due to all the driving deaths that take place. I wonder what his stance on cigarettes and alcohol are considering they kill as well. AIDS! I wonder if he'd like to ban sex too...</div>

there's pleanty of hoels in your theory. first of all, every hot headed college kid that wants to get in a fight doesn't need to be carrying a gun. i knew a lot of kids at state that were not mature enough to be walking around with a gun and having easy access to a gun on their body given all the times they reacted wildly and violently to some kappa sig giving them a look or their gf pissing them off. second, if you aren't a trained marksman with nerves of steel, the odds of you actually being able to calmly take down a crazed maniac who is willing to die/planning to kill himself anyway in a VT type situation is pretty much nil. there are soldiers who spend months training with live rounds who go into shock and freeze up the moment they step into a real combat situation. i can't imagine billy joe from the auto work shop is gonna be able to grab his pistol and effectively take care of a situation. good chance that he'd end up missing the intended target and endangering bystanders with stray shots and/or simply get the attention of the crazed shooter who is actually ready for this situation and will be shot himself. hell, even if some 20 year old in the original VT shootings had a gun, is he gonna be on high alert at all times or is he gonna be sitting in the back of the class half asleep semi-paying attention to the professor when some kid burst in opening fire. think he's gonna have thewherewithaland reaction time to actually whip out his gun and take down the shooter? hell no.<div>
</div><div>everyone like to think they'd be the hero, but in reality they'd be pissing their pants under the desk praying the psycho didn't walk their direction.
<div>
</div><div>imo if one wants a concealed weapon permit, there should be very stringent training to get the initial permit. and continued/updated training every 2-3 years to maintain the permit. </div><div>
</div><div>also, in arizona, you'll see people in target and wal-mart carrying guns, cause it is legal. ever thought that maybe the fact that l<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">oughner appeared to be leagally carrying a gun with him was why no red flags were raised until he was raising it up to shoot giffords? maybe if someone saw him walking down the street with a gun and it was illegal they would have called the cops or maybe a cop would have stopped him. instead it's legal so until he pulled that gun and shot someone he wasn't necessarily committing a crime. also noteworthy that he was taken down by normal citizens who did not have guns.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">
</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">i'm sure my opinion differs from most of you, but so be it. i live in a major city with project housing on the opposite site of the alley from my apt building and i've never felt the need for a gun walking home at all hours.</span></div> </div>
