Demarcus Henderson committed today. He's an infielder from Wayne County. One site ranks him as the 138th best player in the nation and the second best player in Mississippi for 2010. He had offers from USM and MSU and was receiving interest from LSU.

and made the decision to go to State in the past few days despite that offer. Good get, as they say.

a solid pickup. he's playing on the east coast showcase team, which is picked by pro scouts. obviously it's a little too eary to know how high he gets drafted, but hopefully we can hold onto him. he's a pretty good lead-off guy, i've heard. </p>

He has a little more power than the rest of them though, and I wouldn't be suprised if he doesn't end up in the OF. Assuming he doesn't go in the draft that is.</p>

This guy is a "national recruit". I really think he could be a SS in the SEC. I'm not really sure about him being a leadoff hitter with some of the other guys we've signed, just because he has more power than some of the others like Frazier.

He's also Wayne County's QB- he hit 8 home runs, and hit .455. He's a guy that could come in and step in right away. And it might move Chase Luwllen to second base, which I think would be a pretty good middle infield.

I was talking with a kid who was a pretty good juco player who played on the select team out of jackson while still in h.s. And you know how this goes, but the kid is like alot of others at that age and thinks everybody else sucks. He thinks the pitcher from sumrall that we signed sucks. I asked him about Posey and he was unimpressed. But, after running Posey down, he then went on and on about how good lewellen is. I was shocked that he finally admitted that someone was a good ballplayer. The only other player that i've heard him talk good about is jocoby jones. Maybe lewellen is the real deal.

I once heard a college coach say his recruitng strategy was to go after mostly HS shortstops and centerfielders. The reason being this is where the best players usually play in HS. They tend to be athletic and versitile enough to move around once in college.

Cohen allegedly told him he was looking at him leading off. I don't think his ability to go yard eliminates him from doing so. Peisel isn't that bad of a leadoff guy. There are plenty more examples.

<span class="post-title">"Good get, but we now have 40 middle infielders committed."

Would you rather we sign Bunky Kateon, and then not sign another SS for 3 years and be stuck with nothing?

he hardly hit any the year before and then all of the sudden broke out this year.

Im not sure who he hit them against b/c after watching his swing for 2 weeks, it was pretty gross.

Miller really turned the corner this past spring, and before that, he wasn't really anything more than just a "good" high school player. I think he matured a lot between the seasons, but I think he's a pretty good pick-up for MSU. He hit 14 home runs, had over 100 strikeouts as a pitcher, and I think he could potentially help us out as either an OF or a pitcher, or maybe even both. That might be why he said he sucks, because before that, well, he wasn't anything that great.

Posey actually has better numbers than Luwallen- he hit .505 and hit 10 home runs, but the difference is Luwallen is a much better defensive player and has more speed. I think he would be a good get for MSU because he is a RH bat that has a chance to hit for power and can play the corner positions, both of which are major needs for MSU.

Oh, and Posey hit a home run out of Trustmark Park this past season, which I thought was quite impressive for a HS junior.
