Although not winning or having any really big stars makes this kind of thing very difficult. Still, they could somehow plant seeds in the media capitol of the world for when or if the team ever succeeds instead of just assuming fans and interest will come.
As someone who lived in NYC for 12 years, I can tell you less than 1% of people have any interest in college football or even know what this billboard would be for. Not even a casual NFL fan would care to notice this.
I've also worked in advertising for 15 years and the tweet about Oregon actually understanding the power of branding is 100% correct. This billboard is more about sharing it on social media (which we are doing, right now) and getting the press to cover it.

Hideous uniforms. People may think if BO DACIOUS is a new character friends with Big Bird on Sesame Street.
we need to do this more, not just a player but the program is the meaning. We should be full on blitz, change the view, perception, look of the school
