Another summer gun thread

Probably the most useless firearm ever built. They are a overly-marketed gimmick of a gun. There will be people that say differently, but those folks don't know any better. They've just been fed the marketing hype.

i'm trying to maintain my location... i've shot targets at 200 yards with my .270. not perfect accuracy but i'm assuming an end of the world scenario. I want to be able to protect my property at long distances. This is a radical post so i'm posting radical situations. I'm obviously gonna hone my sniper skills with my sniper rifle. duh. that's why a surpressor is needed... for practice without attracting too much attention.

Daddio, I'm a 270 cat... it's capabilities will exceed most shooters... 1000# @ >500m with a narrow MPBR is all one ever needs... less the recoil of more popular/mil spec calibers...

Agree to disagree then. I sent more of those raggedy *** Brazilian Judges back to Taurus than any other firearm besides Kel-Tec. They are junk and don't do anything well enough to be considered even a niche gun. About the only purpose they serve is shooting snakes at close range. Birdshot fired from them is not going to penetrate deep enough to be reliably lethal unless the range is so close as to negate the benefits of the typical shotgun shell pattern. That is to say, one would have to be so close that the "pattern" would not be much wider than the bore of the pistol at those ranges. At that point one would be better off firing the solid projectile from the standpoint of penetration.

Sure a 410 slug would be effective at shorter ranges, but much less effective than a 44 SPL or 45 Colt. If you are going to be shooting those rounds or something similar for self defense then you might as well buy are more reliable revolver from which to fire them. Let's not even get started on the gimmicky rounds like the Winchester PDX stuff with the three discs and a slug. Run some ballistics gel tests on those and you will realize how ineffective they are. The Judge/Governor were cool concepts and they are kinda neat, but they just don't have any real value as a defensive tool.

1) Colt Woodsman in .22 lr. I can carry carry lots of ammo, which I already have stockpiled, I love my .45s, but the ammo weight is a huge negative.
2) Ruger 10-22. Same reasons as above. And of course the ammo is interchangeble with my Woodsman.
3) Browning 16 gage, cause that's what I have. With buckshot and birdshot.

Obviously, you have never been on a hunting trip to Canada. Their gun laws work very well, and their citizens, non-hunters and hunters alike, favor their laws.
No reason to regulate firearms? Ok, I want to purchase a 7.62 M-60 machine gun, an old school M-79 grenade launcher, a hand held 60 mm mortar, and for good measure, throw in a M-20 75mm recoiless rifle. Oh, may as well pick up a couple of Swedish K's too.

By your own admission, you are barely proficient with the firearms you currently own. I doubt you could become proficient enough with a 60mm mortar to become a hazard to anyone other than yourself, but if you want one, I have no issue with it.

Lots of Guns:

Works for Switzerland. Those high mountain snow loving folks have arsenals that would make Rambo and the NRA jealous, fully automatic weapons as well. And enough valley mountain pass ambush areas to scare away any armed invaders. And amazingly enough with all those (evil) guns, Switzerland has a low crime rate.

Gun Free Zones:

Chicago. So many gun deaths that even Barack Obama with Secret Service Protection is afraid to go back there...thus he is spending his time in the Caribbean, French Guyana, Indonesia, etc.

Can't really tell what you meant by "for huntin squirrels and such" but if you are making fun of a .22 LR hollowpoint you are misinformed. True, it lacks the knock down power of the larger calibers but it is very accurate when fired by an experienced marksman. My response was to the supposition of "President Pelosi" which put me in a survivalist frame of mind. I have a 3x9 scope on my 10-22 and in the past I won several awards at the local range in their silhouette matches. Also, I could load myself with 2000 rounds of .22 ammo and cover much more ground than a man loaded with the same number of bigger caliber rounds. Hey, the larger stuff packs more punch, but you have to consider everything.
