“Their portal additions are weak” yet this board claims that Thiero and Big Z are big losses when Ewin and Pringle had comparable/better stats than both respectively last year
I know these rankings are subjective, but On3 has Ivisic ranked 51, Ewin at 75, and Pringle at 143 in the portal.

247 has Ivisic ranked 44, Ewin at 108, and Pringle at 130.

And Thiero would probably be ranked higher than Ivisic if he was in the portal.

And you didn’t even mention losing Aidoo.

Overall, I don’t think adding Ewin and Pringle is comparable to losing Thiero, Ivisic, and Aidoo.

Maybe you add another guy that makes a difference, but right now I think your current frontcourt is a downgrade.

At least on paper. But you know how that goes. Maybe those guys fit better in Cal’s system than the guys you lost.

Now the backcourt looks pretty good, especially if Knox returns.

Should be strong, if Wagner and Acuff can play effectively together.

Thiero was very good but Arkansas made the Sweet 16 run without him after Brazile filled in fine. The portal rankings are subjective for sure, but the advanced metrics kinda go against that. To your point though, different systems and schedules so not an exact science.

I love this poll. A former IU coach, followed by three teams from our region, followed by a former UK coach. College basketball is right back where it belongs in Indiana and Kentucky.

Why are you, an Arkansas fan, showing up on a Kentucky board to tell us how our program isn’t great? Your school has one title and your cute little chart that shows UCLA and Kentucky doesn’t have the pigpen anywhere in it. Why don’t the Arkansas fans go back to the Arkansas board if they aren’t here to be respectful to the program this forum supports? I don’t generally have a problem with your posts, but you’re not in a position to tell Kentucky fans where Kentucky is in the pantheon of college basketball when your last championship came before Mark Pope ever checked into a Kentucky game. Win something, then start talking.

Kentucky #1 program in college basketball
Arkansas - #3 program all-time — in the SEC

Not even sure they are 3rd all time in the SEC.

This year they finished 10th in the league and were one loss away from the NIT, and you'd think they made the Final Four with how much confidence they have about it.

Since 1995 they have only made it past the first weekend of the NCAA tournament 5 times in 30 years [laughing]

They went a stretch of 16 years in that span where they only even made the NCAA tournament 3 times out of 16 years.

Only 2 Elite Eights since 1995.

Have only been seeded above a 4 seed in the NCAA tournament ONCE since 1999.

Haven't won an SEC Regular Season championship since 1994!!

I mean these are embarrassing, embarrassing stats from a program who walks around like they are a top-tier program.

@HogFan2012 really should avoid this subject. He's trying to compare Tyson Chicken Nuggets to a Filet Mignon and it's embarrassing.

He is talking about the entire Arky athletic program and is including all sports in response to the hog fan using the entire athletic program to compare the two universities since UK isn’t in the top 50 and that is one metric he can brag on.

If you don't cherry pick timeframes then Arkansas is pretty easily 3rd all-time in the SEC, it used to be a pretty close race for 2nd with Florida but their title this past season definitely moves them ahead. Arkansas is still 2nd in the conference in all-time winning percentage and final fours.

Not sure the OP, DMac, and Hammy will

If "Hammy" is me, i couldn't care less about a Derby Week way too early poll.

I'm here for the occasional good debate and the lolz i get from watching a few of you act tough and give each other internet "High Fives".

This is a stupid argument that always amazes me. There are hundreds of teams competing here, this isn’t a pro league with a small number. What Kentucky has done to sustain throughout generations is amazing. This is out of over 300 teams. Yes, it’s impressive.

40’s, 50’s, 70’s, 90’s, 10’s with no signs of stopping. Can you name another program that has done that to the degree we have? I’ll save you time, no. Not to mention all of the final fours and title games in between the decades without a title.

Kentucky is college basketballs all time standard. Then look at the rest of the NCAA all time categories. We’re the top in most of those, top 3-5 in the ones were not #1. It’s insane when you see how it actually works.

So if UK hasn’t impressed you, then no team in the sport does. You guys need to stop holding us to a standard no one else is. Kentucky is the most impressive start to finish over all.

And yet, Arkansas beat us at Rupp. It is easy to dupe any fan base when you actually win big games . Arkansas got as far as we did last season so hate on Cal all you want but the team results were as good as ours. They will have a better team this year imo. I think we may have a better team as well. It will be fun.
Arky's season results weren't nearly as good as UK's...we beat 2 final four teams, including the national champions. Their tourney results were as good, the season not nearly. Arky fans were pissed off for 3/4 of the season last year...I was never mad at our team

We had more wins, less losses and 8 wins against top 15 teams. Our season and overall record were better. These guys act like they just won the natty but are on this board because their program is lame and their board is crickets . Their fans have transiioned to following their ladies softball team lol.

The selection committee did Arkansas a huge favor putting them up against the worst KU team in recent history and the one coach that could call Cal his kryptonite in Pitino.

I also wonder if being a double digit seed wasn’t a blessing in disguise since Cal got to be the underdog instead of the favorite. Cal hasn’t been very good as the favorite in the tourney lately (St. Peter’s, Oakland).

Absolutely they got a dysfunctional Kansas team and a overrated St. John's. Being a 10 seed ensured they had no pressure and Calipari always does well when he's the underdog. They deserved the wins of course as they played well but their misplaced superiority complex is just delusional.
