to do with perceived amounts of cash. This has to do with his goals, and where he wants to be as a coach, and where he wants his family.

MSU simply has to pay him what he knows he's worth, not what some potential bankroll another team can offer.

BTW, we've got the pool up to just over 2 mil right now and that was before the season started in anticipation of LSU coming after him if he won. Now that they are not in the picture, we are still prepared.

Mullen isnt stupid. He wont leave for a rival of his mentor to live in Miami.

And it's a pretty tough job these days. UF and FSU are way ahead of them in Florida these days and South Florida is about their equal. Things aren't set up for them nearly as easy as they were back in the 1980s, when UF was a non-factor, FSU hadn't gotten good yet, and USF didn't even have a football team. It's easily a better job than West Virginia, but your likely career path at Miami is not much better then Randy Shannon's was.

and figure out a way to get bought out and be a tv commentator. Hell, that's what most people would do.

UM cannot fire him or afford to politically. 2 out of 3 seasons he's gotten them to a great bowl and won it. One year he has a bad season. They know that they cannot find someone to do better for now.

They are going to have to hope he leavews on his own for Colorado, Miami, or that he finds a way to win some games next year. Cause there aint another option.

Of all the current openings (Minn, Colorado, Miami, WVU, Vandy) and possible future openings (Michigan, Georgia), only Miami scares me the most.<div>
</div><div>If Rich Rod gets fired, Michigan would not go the spread route again. If Mark Ritch is done, I think Georgia goes after Kirby Smart or Muschamp (Both former UGa players) before they target Mullen.</div>

Who's going to offer him a raise over his current $2.5-$2.7M salary? If he leaves on his own, he'll be taking a pay cut.
