I think he goes after a young up and comer. Probably already has someone in mind.

Folks this is NOT a huge loss
Huge may be a little hyperbole, but it is a loss. Ansley is a good coach and a good recruiter. He will be missed. But, he gets to work under the best defensive coach in college football and his next stop is likely (real) DC or HC. That said, Stoops closest ties in the football community are in defense, and particularly defensive backfield. It will be exciting to see who he gets.

People have thrown out Ed Reed, I just looked him up. He just signed a contract with the Bills on January 13th, might not mean anything...

Any other legit candidates? I really hate the rule that we have to wait 2 weeks or whatever it is. I want to know now! Lol

It's a meaningful loss for sure. Ansley is a good recruiter and great young coach. Alabama doesn't want him for no reason. It sucks but we'll be fine. I'd be willing to bet Stoops won't have problems finding a good defensive assistant.

I remarked elsewhere that 2016 would likely have been DA's last year here. He's a really hot commodity and will probably be a DC and HC within 5 years. That others want your assts is a good sign, means Stoops is hiring good people(did screw up with Dawson but nobody's perfect).

It's a good sign too because UK is quietly putting together coaches who could be future UK HCs maybe. Neal Brown's already a HC, Ansley will be in time, Hinshaw will eventually get a HC shot somewhere as probably will Eliot. Who knows who else may emerge in coming years. I do know that in my life time UK's never had this many potential HCs(I'll discount Collier's staff, that was like a 100 years ago).

I think that he would have only been here for maybe 2 more years at best unless he became our DC. I'm thankful he was here and even more thankful that this happened after signing day.

He's a co-defensive backs coach there. Kentucky has a shot in this one because he could come in and be the DB coach, make every bit of money that Ansley was set to make (possibly more just based on that name), and work for/with the guy that directly coached him at Miami.
Would be an absolutely terrific hire.

Guys. Nothing is confirmed yet. Think about it in perspective. Why would Ansley leave after a promotion and a pay raise. Of course it is Alabama, but sooner or later Ansley would have left for DC or head coach somewhere. This move would downgrade his authority and would be a backwards move in terms of position on the staff. I don't think Ansley would go there mainly because he is a very upfront guy and would never keep something away from his players especially when they came to UK because of him. He's not that type of guy. We'll see what happens tomorrow, but as of now nothing has been an indication of him leaving. He has not followed anybody but UK targets and fans recently. So just keep it in perspective.

Meh, everybody knows Ansley was only a (half-assed) recruiter and if you attended practices last year, you'd know Josh Pruitt and Tyler Hancock actually coached the DB's...
Lol..give me a break with this stuff..you sound like a Louisville fan downplaying recruiting rankings.."Everyone knows stars don't really matter!"

Alabama doesn't hire a guy if he can't coach and recruit at a really high level. This reminds me of the monumental collapse we had at the end of last season's recruiting cycle where we lost the Dowell twins and others and most of our experts on here were talking about how it wasn't that big of a deal and how the players were overrated, even after we saw them go to teams like Michigan State and make significant contributions as true freshmen. I love our fans, but my goodness. We're just as bad as Louisville fans when it comes to taking an objective look at our team.

We could always bring in Nick Petrino.
I like the way you think!
