Anthony Alford can clearly play, but Mays for Olive Branch

could play a slot wide receiver ala Jameon Lewis.<div>
</div><div>Can you imagine Lewis and Alford on the field at the same time, with Morrow and Chris Smith on the outside? Xavier Grindle should be in that mix as well, not sure if he's a RB or WR in college.</div><div>
</div><div>Anyway it goes, we will have some serious speed on the offensive side of the ball in the upcoming years.</div>

I cant believe Mays isn't more heavily recruited. I quess it is his size but he is extremely quick. I have seen OB play a couple times too.....he is a play maker. He almost reminds me of Freddie Milons. State needs to offer him.

too short for a Division I QB (although, we have a shorter QB on the roster)...but he does look like a very good slot receiver.

Apparently in the new baseball collective bargaining agreement that goes into effect for this upcoming draft, signing bonuses and contracts are going to be significantly reduced for the playersdrafted. MLB is employing a hard-slot system to discourage these outrageous contracts and bonuses playershave beengetting in the draft. The penaltiesfor the clubs that goover the value given totheir slots in the draft are pretty harsh, including taxes on the overage, and loss of future 1st and 2nd round draft picks.

In short, all of thismeans that thecrazymoney available in the past through the amateur draft is now gone. The contracts some of these kids will be getting are going to be a lot lower than what they were in the past. Now I know some on here are saying Alford is going to the MLB no matter what most likely. I just wonder how much this new hard-slot system for the amateur draft is going to affect guys like Alford in terms of signing contracts. They may want to get a few years out of college first depending on where they end up being drafted. Just something to think about going forward with some of these hot shot dual sport prospects that are highly rated in football and baseball coming out of college.

Todd is exact same height. And his off the field attitude and work ethic is way taller than you could ever measure. He is a winner and a leader.

the Mississippi state title. I would have much rather seen actual Mississippians win it.

he has a knack for making the big plays that win games. He threw the long pass down to the 1 (perfect pass), ran for the TD and ran for the 2-point conversion. That's a damn important quality for a player to have. We need to offer him. Maybe at WR instead of QB, but we need him on our team.

Haters only hate the things that they can't get and the people they can't be.

"QB Anthony Alford just announced after the game he is 100% sure he's going to college and playing both sports."

Dan Mullen and John Cohen, get on the phone! Who knows if he actually shows up, but I'd love to give him that chance...

I really have no desire to be a high school athlete again. I did that and had my share of success, so there is no hate there. But I do hate it for the hardworking kids actually from MS that may not have had a fair opportunity to win their state championship due to the recruiting of out of state players.

What are you talking about? We have 1 player that transferred from Memphis. We didn't lose a game when he played nor did we lose a game when he didn't play. I bet EVERY team this year had a new player or two. You obviously don't know what the hell you are talking about. This group gas been playing together since 7th grade. Stfu

I have come to the conclusion that you must be one of three things. You are either in high school at Olive Branch, a coaches wife, or a player's mom. You seem very emotionally invested in Olive Branch high school football. Congrats again to the Memphis/Olive Branch all-stars. <div>

I have come to the conclusion that you are completely clueless. I am an OB MSU fan. I am emotionally invested in both teams as any fan should be. Im hoping to see some of our OB guys in Maroon and White next year. But ignorant asses like yourself drive some recruits away. Especially since you are completely ignorant of your facts. I guess KJ wright was a memphis all star too.

and I think he is definitely D-1 material, but there has to be a reason why none of the big three have offered him. Its not like he plays for an unknown school. Heck, he plays at one of the best schools in the state for producing college football players. His height is the only thing that I think would hold people off.

Southern has offered Mays along with TT and some other d1 schools. He's only about half inch shorter than Alford. Both are studs and would be great addition to MSU. We would probably pick up Cowan too if we offered Mays And we need Cowan BAD.
