Any chance of a recruiting fallout from Saban leaving?

Damn good question and I think the answer would be Hell to the yes! Marlon Humphrey comes to mind immediately. There would be a meltdown of epic proportions if this happens. Fans will panic, coaching search would be who??? Recruits and heck even current players will be thinking seriously about going elsewhere. It would be really fun to watch and our coaches should be ready to jump.

That's wishful thinking. If Saban leaves, wouldn't you expect Alabama to make a very strong hire and retain most if not all of their commitments? I certainly would.

Less than half of Alabama's commits are closer to Tuscaloosa than they are Austin. They have guys committed from Virginia, Oklahoma, California, Arkansas, and their biggest commitment is from Louisiana. They recruit nationally, and so does Texas. It would be nothing for half that class to flip to Texas.

Absolutely not. What hire is going to better than Nick Saban? And if they don't hire Kirby Smart, he's gone too. Plus, AU has the momentum.

I expect 1/3 to decommit. That's still a formidable class given the current rankings.

Just because it won't be saban doesn't mean it won't be a strong hire

And even if it is a "strong hire", it is unlikely if they retain most if not all their commitments. Saban immediately goes from recruiting for Bama to recruiting against Bama.

There is no close second to Saban - 4 NCs in 10 years (with a 3 year hiatus).

The bigger question is how many coaches will be lining up to replace someone who won 3 of 4 NCs in a league that is the poster child for parody (Saban had only 1 undefeated season). He was an overtime away from a chance at 4 of 5 NCs.

Who said anything about better than Saban? He's the best. There's no argument. But there's no reason Bama can't go pull someone who will, at the very least, have a bunch of 18 year olds convinced that their best route to the NFL still runs through Tuscaloosa. I guarantee you 1/3 won't decommit. How many decommitted from Penn State last year? Four? Five? But you expect twice that to decommit from Alabama? C'mon man. Get your head out of the clouds.

This is gold.

You're right. Poor choice of words. But the person who replaces Saban is in a position to fail.

But there's no reason Bama can't go pull someone who will, at the very least, have a bunch of 18 year olds convinced that their best route to the NFL still runs through Tuscaloosa.

Now you're the one with the head in the clouds. Would you believe the person who replaces Saban to convince his school is the best place to go to the NFL or Saban himself. Now that person - whoever he might be - vs. Steve Spurrier, Les Miles, Kevin Sumlin, Mark Richt, Urban Myer, Jimbo Fisher, Steve Sarkisian, Chris Petersen, Dabo Swinney, etc., ect.

Please give me one name on a strong hire? Just one name. Then compare. Kirby Smart?

I guarantee you 1/3 won't decommit. How many decommitted from Penn State last year? Four? Five? But you expect twice that to decommit from Alabama? C'mon man. Get your head out of the clouds.

So, you compare a team that almost went wire-to-wire as the no. 1 team in the nation during the regular season to Penn State? Laughable. Yes. I expect out of 23 commits, 8 of them to leave. Is it that so hard to imagine? Especially when you have Saban saying I have no commitments to the current players on the team? C'mon man.

Plus, half the commits didn't grow up in Bama. They don't care about the name Bama. Do you really think that the LA boys won't be hearing from LSU, Texas A&M, and especially Texas if there's a regime change? C'mon man. The ones in the state of AL who don't have ties to the school could easily pick AU.

Do know that two Bama CB commits flipped to Auburn in the last week ...

Auburn is rising and if Saban doesn't make some 'positive' move to stay at Bama, some of his commits are going to look elsewhere.

Bama's trust factor in Saban has to be low and all Bama fans should remember Saban 'absolutely and emphatically' denying he was going to Bama just hours before he came aboard.

Possibly, but Bama has certainly shown the ability to make weak coaching hires before...Dubose, Franchione, <strike>Price</strike>, Shula...

If Saban does leave woud Bama make a play for Malzahn? That sure would make things interesting.

There is opportunity in chaos, our staff needs to be ready to take advantage of it.

Saban is probably a bigger factor in his recruits decision making process than most other coaches. There are probably several recruits that considered Bama only because of Saban. Then you'll have several that were on the fence between Bama and Auburn anyway. I don't think their class would implode because I think they'd be able to replace recruits they lost with solid plan b's, but I would not be shocked if they lost 8 recruits that are either in the bag or heavy leans.
