It is not like Bama comes out in 2 tight in a power I. Since they usually have a one back set with one tight end and 3 receivers it would be real difficult to run the 5-2. It would also create a problem because once the RB gets past the first wave there would not be a lot of help behind. Their backs rarely get put down on the first hit. I think that we can play them straight up and try and stop the run. Jones will get some yards but we have to prevent the big play like the one they had last year against LSU. If we can limit them on first and second down we can dial it up on third and bring pressure on the QB. The real need will be to limit the big plays. We have done a pretty good job so far with our bend but don't break defense. I think the biggestkey for us will be to stop the screen plays to the RB's on 3rd down.
the 5-2. You restrict some of the blitzing schemes by running that style. We need to focus on getting to McElroy in the pass rush. LSU and SC both proved that was vital to winning against Bama. Not that I'm saying we should over look Ingram or Richardson but if we can't get pressure to the QB we can create 2nd and 3rd and longs that won't allow them to run wild.
I think we will give them a lot of looks though. A 5-2 may very well be one of those looks in certain situations, but I don't think we will go with that for a sustained amount of time.
I'm expecting a lot of 4-3, some 4-2-5, and some occasional 3-3-5 looks.
