Any golf course suggestions for Orange Beach, AL?

I'm here with the in-laws and normally my father in law, brother in law and myself go deep sea fishing. Not so much this year, so we decided to play some golf instead. Any suggestions on courses in the area? Keep in mind we are not avid golfers and this is as much a beer drinking golf cart ride as a round of golf, so nothing expensive and fancy. <div>
</div><div>I did a google search, but the people in the condo below us have really slow internets so google searching isn't very easy. The only one I've found is the orange beach golf center. Any thoughts?</div>

Cotton Creek has two courses, Peninsula and Kiva Dunes are a short drive down the road. I haven't played down there in about 15 years but it is hard to go wrong on any of those except for the green you have to lay out. I remember a par 3 course down there, don't bother with it if it's still there. You are better off just going to a driving range for an hour than doing that thing. Surely its gone under by now 'cause it sucked. Personally, I would suggest Cotton Creek. There is another course in Gulf Shores and is newer but I don't know anything about it. Oh, be sure to check afternoon rates they can save a few $.

If you are looking for just a round and care more about the price then go for the Gulf State course. It ain't too bad and costs about half as much.

If you're willing to drive an hour to Destin, Kelly's Plantation is well worth the trip. It's about 50-60bucks, but the quality of the course makes it totally worth it.

$44 for eighteen and a cart. They had the most user friendly greens of all the courses I have played there. (And I shot my best round in probably a year there last week.) If you want to drink beer, load up a cooler before you head out. I saw the bev cart girl on the second hole and never again until the 19th.

Peninsula is a nice track. There are 27 holes and one 9-hole grouping had burnt up greens (Marsh maybe?) last week. I believe it was $100 for 18.

Can't go wrong with Kiva. Most scenic course and toughest.

That bay breeze doesn't get that far inland, so expect it to be hot as a SOB by 10AM. Maybe that's the reason all these courses are practically empty after 2:00.

Lots of MSU PGM students working summer jobs at Kiva and Peninsula.

Rates are pretty friendly, GPS in the carts, not too far from the beach (maybe 15 minute drive across the toll bridge?).

Course is pretty wide open, which suits my style, too.

It's in great shape and it was $53 cart, green fee and range balls. Playing Peninsula on Thursday, but I didn't ask how much. They aerified about two weeks ago.

And the best is the one with that big dragon hole just after the windmill. I can't remember the name. Be sure to do the go-carts after playng your 18. Do your serious drinking before you show up because they don't allow beers on the course..

Sorry, I couldn't stop myself.

Seriously Kiva is a good test and you will enjoy it regardless of how well you shoot.

There's no way to explain how terrible I am... I normally, on a par 3 or 4 will stop at 6 or 7 and say 17 it and just write down 6 or 7 on the card, if I'm even bothering to keep score. <div>
</div><div>My brother in law is the same way. My father in law at least knows what he's doing, somewhat. We'll check the suggestions out and I'll let yall know how it goes. Thanks for the suggestions.</div>

I'm not a fan of Kiva Dunes at all. Certainly not a friendly course for a hacker to play.
