Any golf recommendations for the Gulf Shores area?

Looking for one nice round and one budget round.

I've played Kiva Dunes so I'd like to try something new. Anyone played Lost Key?

baldwin and mobile counties on spring break.
widespread panic @ the wharf all weekend, too. (the band, and the general atmosphere)

getting out of dodge. heading to SBW....

...they hire lots of summer help from MSU. Most everyone in the pro shop was a Bulldog fan last summer.

While Peninsula may be great, but what about options?

If you are on a golfing trip, you generally want to play several different courses.

If you're gonna play one course...ok, Peninsula.

It may be a little bit far for your, but its right across the bridge that is on the way to the WalMart past Perdido Beach. It was less than 50 for 18/cart/range balls. The course wasn't spectacular, but wasn't bad. Lots of water, obviously.

I've read the horror stories about Lost Key, but my bro-in-law has a 2 for 1 coupon so we decided to go ahead and use it. I guess I'll use shag balls for that round.

A bunch of kids going to the wharf to have a good time? How does that have anything to do with picking a golf course?

Craft Farms has 2 courses I would recommend. Both designed by Arnold Palmer. Cotton Creek and Cypress Bend. Noticed at the bottom of the screen talking about the courses, they have a"Six Pack Special." Not sure what thats about though...

Play Rock Creek on the way down in Fairhope. While in Gulf Shores, play Kiva Dunes and Cotton Creek...far and away the two best courses in the area. Peninsula is always in good shape, but it is boring and easy...747's could land on some of those wide fairways.

Play Soldiers Creek while you are in the Gulf Shores area. Pretty fun course, after 1 o'clock play at reduced fees. See http://www.soldierscreekgolf.com Play from the Black (back) tees and you have 7000 yards. That should be long enough for anyone! The Blue tee position is close to 6400 yards. I usually play there at least one day every trip to the beach.

I also vote for Peninsula. It's a nice, lush track with wide fairways and a very fair setup. It's a great resort course.

Also, stop by Las Vegas Golf at the Foley Outlet Mall and ask for any discount tickets for any courses you may be playing. They usually have some for various courses.

Both the Head Pro and Assistant Pro at Pennisula are MSU Grads. Evan (head pro) was a good friend of mine in college.

Great course to play but not quite as challenging as Lost Key or Kiva.

My 2 cents:

Of all the courses I've played spanning the coast from Kiva Dunes to Lost Key I can say with confidence that Lost key ranks dead last. Craft Farms, Peninsula & Kiva are the best courses in the area.

Pretty good layout and fairly cheap. But don't expect it to be nice and green like the rest. I played it last spring and you could tell they had not put any fertilizer on the course. I played with a local there and he said they didn't put much back in the course. But not bad for the price.

Just say "no" to Lost Key. What a stupid golf course. Swamp on either side of the fairways with crowned fairways channeling balls down into the swamps. Penisula is great.

I played Soldier's Creek in March. The greens were nearly impossible to putt due to the poa on them. It was inexpensive. That's about it.

...and Kiva was my favorite place to play. I must have loved those snow white sand traps, because I was in them an awful lot. There are a lot of good courses around Daphne and Rock Creek in Montrose was excellent.
