I (stupidly) agreed to work at one of the volleyball games at 9 tomorrow. Any idea if I would be able to get tickets by then if I showed up around 7 or so tomorrow morning (assuming they don't run out)?

I heard tonight that 5000 wristbands had been handed out, really squashed my thinking that only 200 or so people would be there. Although my idea was skewed because thousands of people thought it was a mandatory thing.

*This part is for saltslugs, I'm not sure if you got a wristband since you were asking but they told me that all students with wristbands would be given tickets first until they reach the last person in line with a wristband then they will start selling to people without wristbands and at that point no more "fastlane" for wristbands. Therefore, if you don't have a wristband I would imagine it would be at least 9 before they get to non-wristband folks. Now this was told to me by a girl giving out the bands who was working very hard and actually went and got the answer for me, but there was a cluster17 of misinformation out there all day because they never imagined so many people being there and were not prepared.

First, they only had 500 of the original wristbands (yellow I think) to give out. When they realized a lot more people were out there, they went and got 4500 more (pink ones). A lot people heard the original 500 were gone a little after they started handing them out, so they didn't bother coming down to the junction. Why go from only 500 wristbands to 5000? I'm pretty sure they said there would be a set number of wristbands to give out. Over 50% of the tickets for sale tomorrow are already claimed because they abandoned the check in process after the volleyball game.<div>
</div><div>One main problem is that the main source of communication throughout the event was Hobart's twitter. If more information had been available beforehand, it might have gone a little smother. It was a decent idea in theory, but the large amount of participants turned it into a total cluster17.</div>

I was told there was 2000 yellow and 3000 pink, not sure if true--but it was from a pretty reliable source within the SA.

Pretty impressive picture Joe Galbraith tweeted of the Junction full, looks like a gameday.

I get that they want excitement but this thing has turned out terrible. And the fact that they did it the same time as bid day added to thecluster 17. I mean do you really want to encourage college students to camp out all night doing a thing they normally get drunk doing? Just seems like they were a bit naivein thinking this would work out

If true, then it makes a bit more sense. They should have just cut it off at 2000 to keep itmanageable. There are going to be a lot of unhappy people in about 7 hours

out because 1) didn't have a tent 2) had homework, or 3) left it up to the overly excited freshmen and sophomores to do the camping out while they slept in bed. Just like you said, there are probably going to be a lot of unhappy people tomorrow around lunchtime (I am going to bet mostly upperclassmen... Seniors, Graduate Students, and PhD's).<div>
</div><div>I know I posted earlier saying I didn't think this would be near as big as it turned out being... and with that being said, I am going to leave predicting numbers of attendees at any event to Flab and Cray Supercomputers. </div>
