I would start Whitney to, though. He has had some success against Ole Miss. I think he did pitch against Georgia on Sunday, but he didn't stay all that long. He could very well start.

I think Cohen is doing the right thing here by not announcing because Ole Miss likes to mix and match LH/RH hitters at their corner outfield spots. It might get us a favorable match up for one hitter at least.

Ole Miss is starting David Goforth.
If I'm not mistaken, he pitched Sunday against Florida. Maybe it was Saturday but I remember seeing the game on TV and hearing his name. Too lazy to look it up but can you pitch a few weekend innings then turn around and start on Tuesday?

He is our team leader in ERA though...that is if the leader is the one with the highest ERA.

He's sucked it up big time this year. He has potential, but I don't expect much out of him. There has been talk of using him as a starter, so maybe this is his Sunday starter audition, since we've apparently had quite a few of those already and no one wants to take the part.

Just looked at the results and you have lost the Sunday game in 4 series so far this year. Both of the SEC series.

and given up 10+ in all 4. It's a very troubling problem, in an otherwise promising start to the season.

It is his first start, and he hasn't gone very many innings in any of his other appearances.

With him, it's all about if he can throw strikes. If he can throw his curve for strikes- forget it. We need to get him in touch with Sandy Koufax.

Basically to any decent opponent we've lost the Sunday game and given up double digit runs. We're 17-2 in non-Sunday games and 2-4 on Sundays.

We're undefeated on midweeks so far, which is the odd part. You would think that if our pitching depth was an issue, midweeks would be giving us more trouble, but they haven't. Our other 2 losses have been on Friday's, games where Pomeranz got a no decision. We're undefeated on Saturdays, and Barrett is 6-0, hasn't even had a no decision yet.

I'm beginning to think that this team may have moved up the traditional Sunday night baseball team throw down to Saturday nights, which would explain our general lack of anything positive on Sundays. The pitching has been bad, but our bats have disappeared on Sundays too.

I want to say it was past the 30th round. I could look it up, but I don't want to spend the time on it.

He sucked last year mainly because he had trouble locating within the zone, and he got raked. He had great stuff even then, just couldn't put it together, which is why he still got drafted despite sucking on the field. He's added a change up, and he's worked a lot on locating within the zone this off-season, and it's paying off with that 6-0 record and just a bit over 2.00 ERA. He'd be the ace on a lot of staffs the way he's pitching.

It's just too bad for us we really have a steep drop off after he and Pomeranz. To make postseason noise, you need about 2 really good pitchers and another 3 or 4 pitchers that can give you good innings. We're missing that next 3 or 4, and we won't do much in the postseason if no one steps up. We're shaping up to be another Bianco team that has a lot of the pieces but just not quite enough.

We don't field or hit well on Sundays, either.

As was posted on Nafoom, we better kick some major *** over the next two weekends against UGA and UT, because this coach-pitch **** on Sundays will ruin us once we start playing teams in the West.

Also, win or lose, the only thing this game really means is that the winner has better midweek pitching. The weekend series is where it's at.
