Our OC has an innovative plan.
Sneak Sellers out there with another number and disguise in hopes that Mizzu doesn't notice.

I'm assuming he'll miss the game due to protocol. I guess official decision will be made by week's end if he doesn't practice.

Beamer: first rule of injury report
is do not talk about injury report. 😄
I do find the deliberate omission of players or the details of their injuries from the injury report to be cornballish at times. I guess it's gamemanship but don't understand how keeping a true freshman o-lineman's concussion from the public or opponent gives us any advantage in the first game. You know Sellers will be listed as gametime decision all week. That's a given.

Sunday update appears he will play and D Stewart will not have to sit out the 1st half.
That's encouraging to hear but still not official. Players dont usually come back that soon from concussions but I guess it's possible.

Just telling you now.... Sellers will not be back this week against Mizzou. (Concussion)

It won't matter. We are going to lose anyway. Badly. Our OL absolutely sucks beyond all suckage and Beamer doesn't see it. Until we get a new HC, this won't change.

Shane will defintitely have Mizzou practice in anticipation of him playing. I suspect he sits too

Not sure but Shane said this at his 5:00 Sunday phone conference. Maybe because it was only a unsportsmanlike penalty.

This isn't the 1980s. Given the modern concussion protocols, would it not be medical malpractice for a doctor to clear him to play just one week after suffering a concussion? I know we have some doctors on this board and I'm not one of them, so let me know if I'm misunderstanding concussion protocol.

I THINK concussion protocol includes grades of concussion.

Was it actually a concussion? hard scary hit? Did he go into concussion protocol. Beamer ran his head across Seller's head pretty aggressively after he got up. I think he, like I, thought he had a jolt that would keep him out for one series. And what of Harbors injury? is it serious? it didn't seem to be a twist or odd angle. I'm not questioning toughness, but it doesn't seem this team has near the mustard as last year's team.

The defender hit his face mask against Seller's head, but didn't follow through very much and didn't take him to the ground. Just knocked him to the ground.

Hard to describe, but it didn't seem like a very scary hit at all. I am wondering of the back of the head on the ground was what did it.

I just had to search for the video to see; The answer is 'no', his head didn't hit the ground at all. It was really a weird hit. There was helmet-to-helmet, LS stumbled backward a couple of steps, turned sideways, and his shin/knee/thigh/butt made nice, easy contact with the ground. Then he continued on down, rolling his body to a prone position.

You're right. I thought he might have landed on his back, and back of his head.

That just looks so weak for a serious injury.

Thanks for posting. It looks like the hit actually occured to the side of the neck under the ear. That's a big target in the fighting world and could have been the reason such a innocuous hit impacted him like it did.

He definitely got his bell rung. He looked visibly shaken. Makes the most sense for sitting out the rest of the game. Everyone reacts differently and it looked intentional even though it didn't look like a particularly hard hit. Definitely stunned him. Defender could have shoved him backwards instead of colliding leading with his helmet.

Defender did exactly what he was supposed to do. He kept his head up to avoid a targeting penalty and was trying to hit the ball with his left hand and was one step away from Sellers when the ball left Sellers hand so he couldn't really stop his progress. He didn't shove Sellers to the ground or wrap him up and drive him into the ground. The defender immediately turned away from Sellers to see where the ball had gone, he didn't stand over Sellers or watch him go to the ground.

That was an unfortunate injury but it was in no way intentional.

Yet he got a targeting penalty after video review.

No flag was ever thrown. The ref watching the play thought it was fine. That whole review process is horrible and should be scrapped.

Reminded me of a character from the movie "Unbreakable."

Targeting penalties get called after the fact fairly regularly even if you don't agree.

I'm not looking to start conspiracies or losing sleep over it but I see it differently. Sorry. And yes if Sellers played, I still think we could have lost the game. Write the Vandy guy a letter this week (this post would be perfect)and tell him he has your support.

HIPPA says no can disclose private health information... for what it's worth. I guess Beamer could technically get sued over disclosing health information.

Spurrier used to give a little intel. "He took a little shot to the knee and may be out a few weeks". Collier's injury came out right away. Beamer definitely plays gamemanship with the depth charts. This position player OR this position player. Doesn't bother me.
