Been wondering about this kid and if he'll actually play for the Cards this season. I was excited when he committed because it meant we had more than one PG and though he's a frosh, he seems to have some promise. Plus I hate putting all our eggs in one basket with just Clark.

I really find it odd any player would have eligibility issues during these times. As the last few years we see players reclassifying at alarming rates . I have always suspected with reclass kids something was shady with their academics. And to say kids like Johnson and others are not eligible is kinda of laughable.
Do you think this is one of the reasons UofL was able to get a quick commitment from a 4 star practically out of thin air?
Wasnt out thin air he had either decommitted or had a verbal with Memphis they signed some other players and that's when he reopened his recruitment .Is how U of L got in.
Just guessing here the issue could be about not having enough core classes completed to a required GPA level. There is a rule about a core class requirement but I can't remember the exact terms of that.
Maybin referenced something to that nature about a class seems to be the issue.
!With enrollment no longer a question, now it's a waiting game to see if Johnson will be eligible to play the upcoming 2023-24 season in some capacity. A source close to the program tells Louisville Report that a waiver request for Johnson to play for the entire season has been filed to the NCAA. The source was not immediately sure if Johnson would be able to play in the second half of the season should the waiver be denied.

Have a good idea how thisis going to play out for U of L. Maybe the kid needs to say he from ovreseas and played professionally everything would be good.
He will stick around to see how the waiver attempt goes. If not approved he will depart and go Jucco most likely. As we all know things like this never work for U of L .
This is a risk. If he doesn’t play this year good chance he ends up in portal. Pre portal not a bad idea. Portal era who knows.
The failure of KP is going to be tied to him not adapting to this new landscape. It is completely different and he doesn’t have the luxury of picking up whoever he wants whenever he wants. This is fine if he retains the majority of this years roster.

Yeah I'm expecting a big fat no from our friends at the NCAA. Would be very surprised if they grant him that waiver.
Coming off last year the team needed tons of positive off-season news. Hate to see any kid's career derailed or put on hold, hopefully this works out for him.
