Durkin was never a target. Go back to OM 247 if you seriously thought that. That's the only ones who reported that and no reputable source for State has ever said we're in it.

Seriously - letting OM frame our DC coaching search how they want it in the media is stupid.

I don’t think this is true.

lol. it literally was started on OM 247 by their insiders right after we flipped the 5* safety. it was meant to overshadow the 5* flip news and then make state fans feel bad for not getting the "primary" target DC. so now the story is state failed to get Durkin rather than state succeeded in flipping a 5*.

tell me which State insider actually floated Durkin as a real name? considering how tight lipped we've been - good luck.

Who are the best actual attainable. Thought dykes was gonna get fired and we were gonna get Briles for OC. Still think we could steal away from TCU on that.
Durkin is out
Brad white to Florida.
Should be some guys available with all the changes.

Can you link me to the story where we whiffed on Durkin? He was internet fodder for like 4 hours. Who cares?

Excluding the last 3 games (Ole Miss, Missouri, Georgia), we averaged allowing only 9.6 points in the first half through the first 9 games.
Just a casual observation but it seemed to me that our defensive scheme and coaching was vastly improved over last year. We always seemed to start games well but ran out of gas in the second half of games. I think our defensive woes were 25% poor conditioning and 75 % lack of quality depth. Lack of depth can be blamed on the coaching staff.

Defensive death spiral: Most three-and-outs in SEC + fastest pace in nation = Exhaustion.
I’m glad you picked up on this a little. Most don’t, or don’t care, or care to understand. It wouldn’t matter if Nick Saban was the defensive coordinator the past two years, we still have the same issue.

He’s got to add just a smidge of ball control to his offense or we need two complete defensive units capable of stopping SEC offenses.

What do we blame poor conditioning on?
