I have talked to six here at my office and four hopes he don't get drafted and two don't care either way. This time last year he was a god to these same people.

I might even take him over Clausen and McCoy, you gotta think that Tebow going early has got to hurt him. I thought that Tebow would go to a team that wasn't necessarily looking for him to play at qb. With Denver filling their need, thats one less team that needs a qb. Is next year supposed to be a better year for qb or did he think that he could get more $ before the salary agreement next year?

There were rumors that Snead's family has some kind of financial trouble that might have pushed him to the NFL and also I suspect he looked at the prospect of playing next season behind 2-3 new OL starters and without Dexter McCluster or Shay Hodge and figured his best chance may be this year.

We have a lot of fans, and I think this goes for most schools, that don't like it when a player leaves early, and they almost feel betrayed when it happens.

I figured Snead was gone all along before the season. This was going to be his last year because we were going to be re-tooling our offense, in particular the O-line in 2010, and he was going to be losing his senior playmakers from the 2009 team. This fall was his year to prove himself and get out with his status at its best

I didn't know he'd turn into a head case and a pick machine, but even with that, I could make an argument that he needed to go now because last year was as good as it was going to get for him. He wasn't going to be around for 2011 and 2012 when our young offensive playmakers from the 2010 actually develop. He was only going to be around to go through the growing pains with them.

However, a lot of our fans can't see past their own selfish need for salvaging a rebuilding year. I say it's good that he's gone because we're not going to be winning any titles in 2010 anyway. Might as well have 12 games to try to get Stanley and Cotton's feet wet before 2011 and 2012 when we should be in better shape as a whole.

Sounds like a running back I know of that went from a god coming in as a freshman to being booed on senior day.

caused him to come out early was Nutt telling him that he had to earn the starting spot next year. He has one good half of a season under his belt. People seem to forget that he wasn't very good in early '08.

who your starting QB would have been next season if Snead had returned, you're a goddamn idiot. That rumor is one of the biggest piles of horseshit I've ever seen.

People are pissed off because Jevan was @$+#+% terrible last year, the year that was supposed to be "our" year. Instead we got another trip to Dallas, notable wins over LSU, UT, and Ark, and an asswhipping at the hands of the bulldogs.

The guy just wasn't that good. He had the tools but he was a headcase. I can't hate him for not being the elite QB that people thought he was. And it wasn't his fault that South Carolina's defense had a free run on him all game with a 3 man rush, even if we left 7 in to block. And it wasn't his fault that Nix didn't figure out he needed to play Lewis and the safeties 5-7 yards off the ball against State to stop a simple zone read play.

Yes, Snead didn't live up to the billing, but I don't think you can blame that all on him. People were expecting him to be Eli. I'm not going to hate him because he wasn't.

If you had realistic expectations last year, you'd have expected in the 9-3/10-2 range. Even with good Snead, we wouldn't have been an 11-1 or 12-0 team. We finished 1 or 2 games below where I expected, and that's because the losses we had from the 2008 team were bigger than we anticipated, and the flashes Snead showed in late 2008 weren't the real Snead.

If people are pissed at Snead for not taking us to a BCS game, then they had unrealistic expectations from the outset, and that's their fault, not his.

In hindsight Snead would've been best to leave with Wallace and Oher, because his stock wasn't going to get any better after they left.

After last season with the buzz following him, he would've headed into the combines as a top 4 qb. Now, it's all speculation if he would've stayed there after workouts, but I think he would've fared much, much better declaring last year.</p>

I`ve been a Houston Nutt fan every since he`s been a head coach but never really observed him that closely until he got to Ole Miss. I don`t claim to know either Nutt or Sneed personally but it appears to me that Nutt`s coaching and personalmannerisms(while inspiring most)would run certain othertypes of other personalities bat **** crazy. For that reason I`m not ready to ring up Sneed as a head case until I see him under another coaching staff. It`ll be interesting to watch.

and he's the classic example of how coming back isn't always for the best.

I think he'd have done more damage to himself by coming back this fall to play behind a young OL with young playmakers.

I don't think anyone thought he'd do damage to his stock by coming back for the 2009 season, but obviously no one knew how important Wallace and Oher were to his late season charge at the end of last season.

I call him a headcase moreso due to his fear of the pass rush than anything else. He'd feel a rush when it wasn't there, and the minute you start looking for the pass rush as a QB you're beat. That's going to be his biggest obstacle in the NFL. You can't have a fear of the pass rush.

didn't get pulled when he was having a terrible outing. Snead had 54.4% completion rate w/ 20 int's (w/ a lot of weak teams on the schedule). He could very well have won (and probably would have) the starting spot over Stanley/Cotton/Massey but he was not going to get to stay in games where he looked awful anymore and getting yanked his senior year wasn't going to help his draft status.
