But it ought to be awesome. 'The Wire' might be the best television show of all time, so I'll watch this on pedigree alone. Just have to wait until it hits DVD unfortunately.

that bad. This seems to be very accurate, more so than most shows about NOLA. The small roles are almost all done by locals.

I couldn't figure out what the story was. It was very imagistic. Loving New Orleans like I do, I liked it okay. But the characters did not stand out to me. I'll keep watching and see what happens.

The struggle of people of all different backgrounds in the months right after Katrina, specifically musicians in the historic neighborhood of Treme.

but a big fan of David Simon for his work on the wire (my favorite series ever)

Plan to check it out whenever I have a chance.

I know N.O. was hurt but they weren't the only people who suffered and lost it ALL. Poor folks all along the coast got it as bad or worse than some of them did.
Sorry for the rant, just tired of N.O. being the only place profiled like they are the only place who had losses. I also know it is a "story" but that story could have taken place anywhere else as well.

and local Music of New Orleans. Kinda sort of like the Soprano's was about the mob but was really aboutpsychiatry and Tony's family life.

a) I see things about the Gulf Coast/Katrina all the time. Stop whining.

b) When the Mississippi Gulf Coast is as interesting as New Orleans, I imagine it will get a teevee show.

can't remember his exact quote but something like:

The hurricane that hit the mississippi gulf coast was a natural disaster.
What happened to New Orleans was a catastrophic government-engineering 17up of epic proportions

Have lived on the coast for a decade, experienced the aftermath of the Mississippi hit, slogged through the muck in NOLA shortly after the storm, I am about Katrina'd out. Treme sounds intriguing but I just have no desire to relive any of that. Haven't watched When the Levees Broke, either.

Maybe if it had just not been with a Katrina backdrop...but if enough good reports come in maybe I'll change my mind.

The show isn't so much about the hurricane, it's about the culture and people of New Orleans (with more focus on the Treme neighborhood). David Simon actually had an idea to do a show like this long before the Katrina.

I lived there for five years and it seemed preety relaistic, especially about the Mardi Gras Indians and Kermit.

You're saying all you want is to get high, play trumpet and barbecue in New Orleans?" -- Davis, asking Kermit Ruffins why he won't bother to talk to Elvis Costello.
Then he said, not a bad start or something like that..

And of John Goodman (Walter Sobchak is the greatest character in cinematic history), I am going to be extremely disappointed if this show isn't absolutely fantastic. For a series premiere where nothing really happened, I thought it was pretty good. It kind of reminded me of how slow The Wire was for the first few episodes.

I was a little buzzed after Phil's win, so I thought I'd try again. Didn't like it Sunday night because my family went through it on the coast and felt like poor little NO is still getting all of the press. After last night, it was a little better, but I still hate the liberal slant toward this being the government's fault. But what can you expect from HBO. They are going to prey on the "man" with either a show like this or Bill Mayer. I'll give it 2 more episodes to see how it develops.

The Goodman character and his wife are a little annoying. I don't seeeither of thembeing any part of the musical scene's comeback. They are there for the political slam.

He also looks like he spent a lot of time at K-Paul's while filming. The guys huge!
Either that or he ate Rosanne.
