Anybody ever changed the lamp in a Samsung DLP television?

If so, is it hard to do or is it something best left to a technician? From the owner's manual, it seems pretty simple and you can save a lot of money by ordering one from Amazon.<div>

Very very easy. It's only a few screws and didn't take long at all. There are how to guides on the Internet for your model.

Mine went out a couple years ago so I started looking around where to order one from and came across a Samsung forum and apparently some of the DLP models have short-lived lamps in them and Samsung will replace them for free.

So I called and told them that my lamp burned out, gave them the serial # and model # and they checked it... and I got a free lamp.

It wasn't a long process either, so it's worth calling to see.

ETA: just tell them yours burned out, instead being dim.

Good advice, I had a issue where white dots started appearing and they came out and fixed my four year old tv for free. If they have it as a documented issue, they are good about making it right.
