Anybody going crazy over the Ravens sitting on the ball?

But I would prefer to trust Ray Lewis and the Ravens D over ours. You just need to give up defending that gutless coward.

......I didn't like Crxxm sitting on the ball in the 1st half against LSU this year, I was oppositely okay with his decision to risk it in the game in 2007. It backfired on us then, but that's the risk I think you have to take when you're up against teams that you're not expected to have a chance to beat. I especially think you take that chance on the road because of the opportunity to quell the hostile envirnoment and either keep the score close or even tie the game going into the locker room. Now if MSU had been the team receiving the opening kickoff to the 2nd half, then I could have understood the decision to sit on the ball.

If we turn the ball over and they score, we're down two scores. Then, they get the kickoff and score again (as they did) and we would be down three scores. Three scores are very tough, but two scores down, you're in the game as long as you score next.

i don't agree wiht the decision to not pass it downfield after we crossed the forty. I think we would have gotten away with it. I doubt we would have scored, but they probably would not have scored either. But to say that not going downfield is incomprehensible ignores the fact that Croom practiced a common and proven football game strategy by doing so.

Many say that since we lost to La Tech, we had to go for it there. I don't think it's smart to let the frustrations of a past game guide our strategy in the current game.

If any of you fans that have given up want to unload some tickets, esp. for the Vandy game, send me a message.

That is the part I don't understand.

I would give Croom a pass if he had run twice with Dixon and gained two yards, but he got out to about the 40 yard line. There was 40 seconds on the clock and MSU had all 3 timeouts. All you need is 30 more yards for a shot at a field goal, and LSU would be playing prevent defense.

Now that MSU is at the 40 the pressure on the offense should be off, and you have a chance to move the ball and get in position to kick a FG.

Lee had played a good game and gave no indicatoin that he was not going to be safe with the ball, so why not. If you get a FG all the momentum in on MSU sidelines and the team is believing they can win the game.

I was stunned that he took a knee from the 40 yard line with 3 timeouts left. Why even play the game, its like he just wanted to cover the spread. What do you have to lose, you are a 24 point underdog at a place you never win.

Bottom line is that it is a loser mentality, and when you play not to lose, more often than not, you lose.

Oh, as an Ole Miss fan, I think it was a great decision. I hope he does the same against us.

and then got to the 25 before having to use their last timeout on an injury.

Very similar to the 40 yard line with 3 timeouts left though. /sarcasm

I didn't see the game last night and just took you at your word. But now that I've read OMlawdog and qbdog's posts, I say, "Similar situation my ***!"

OMlawdog nailed it. No problems at all with Crxxm running the ball from the 23, even with 3 time outs. But when that run netted 13 yards, it was time to immediately shift gears and start trying to get in FG range.

I'm talking about the difference between taking a competetive game into the middle of the 3rd quarter vs. the possibility of being down three scores at that point. Of course we could throw a pick at any point in the game, but a pick is more likely in a hurry up. LSU has a lot of experience and talent on its defense. Our quarterback is not experienced.

Don't get me wrong: I said I wish we had gone for it. But the idea that this is the quintessential bad decision for the ages is more emotional than thoughtful, imo.
