I haven't. Those I know that have say it's a helluva place. Beautiful with mountains on all sides. It's ranked as the safest city in the USA by various insurance groups, as having one of the top 5 buisiness climates and as being a top ten hotspot for economic growth. You've got to figure it's schools are top notch as are its medical care facilities (which has to be an issue for Petersen).

Coaching in the SEC is bigtime and all. We'll offer more money. In the end though, I bet his wife and family win out and Petersen won't come to Starkville.

I agree with what you're saying, but don't underestimate a coach's desire to prove himself at the highest level. Whether our job is good enough to make the jump remains to be seen, but these guys are motivated by building programs and proving people wrong.

As for your comment about medical care for Petersen's child, remember that the best children's hospital in the world is in Memphis and you can believe the family would have access to our planes if they needed them.

ive been thru there. flew into there on my way up to Coeur D Alene...awesome resort and golf course(an actual floating green, need a boat to access) up there.
Boise seemed very nice for a midsized city. and the entire area was amazing view after amazing view.

St. Judes, that's for sure.

I also wonder why he would be interested in us but not Washington. Or are they not interested in him?

It's as beautiful, clean, family-friendly, and surrounded by natural beauty as advertised. And, all things being equal (job, family ties to to the areas - or lack thereof), it's a slam dunk over just about any place connected to the SEC to live. In other words, if I didn't have deep family and emotional ties to the south, Boise is the kind of place I would actively seek to move to, assuming comparable career prospects.

BUT, if someone offered about 3X my current salary, I would pretty much consider moving anywhere. Hell, people do 2 year tours in 17ing Iraq and Afghanistan as contractors for the right amount of dough.

There are at least 10 threads on the board about the coach that Washington hired yesterday.

At U of I in Moscow, thus the vandal part of vandaldawg. I loved it. Also allowed me to complete my goal to get education at rural, agricultural schools with terrible football programs. But yeah, it's gorgeous.

Why would Washington go with Sarkisian instead of pursuing Petersen?

its no colder on average than minneapolis, green bay, chicago, omaha, etc.
and it rains a whole hell of a lot less than in MS or in the midwest.

not saying it isnt cold, just that its basically the same as much of the country.

...and all over Idaho. Boise is one of the most modern cities in the West. It is located in the SW part of the state. It has mountains right outside of town, and, just 15 minutes down the road is southern Idaho range land and virtual deserts. The Snake River Canyon is only a short drive, and it is almost as beautiful as the Grand Canyon. I have fished the headwaters of the Snake in the Jackson Hole, Wyoming area, as well as, Henry's Fork. I have a good friend who lives in Ketcham in the Sun Valley, and another in Kellogg.

it was raining and cold - kind of depressing. Downtown is nice, good restaruants, bars, etc. I'm sure it is a beautiful area; however, it is not a college town.

I've also been to Missoula, MT - and that is a fantastic college town - 3 Micro breweries, great restaurants, bars. A few hours from Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, great fishing, skiing, etc. U of Montana has had several winning seasons and have hosted the Rolling Stones in their stadium. But, football is not that important, and I bet the football coach would give anything to coach in the SEC.

Maybe its just being an alumni that lived in Starkville during a great time ('94 to '99), but I think it is a great town.</p>

Heard similar stories about Missoula. Also, heard the women are gorgeous there.
