UK lost a LOT from last season. Vandy's just bad. Can anyone explain all the love their new coach is getting? I just don't see it. He just got fired from an assistant coaching job at Maryland. That's not exactly a top notch resume builder. He is bringing in some recruits, but I think once they see the product he puts on the field, his recruiting will be back to the same old Vandy recruiting we've always seen pretty soon.

He was the HC in waiting at Maryland and took the Vandy job a few days before Friedgen was fired. Had he stayed at UMD, he might have been fired, but he also would have been considered for the job.

He may be overhyped right now, but he's also saying all of the right things and landing his recruits. I do know he was very highly regarded at UMD among the players, and they did average 30+ on offense last year with him as OC. I'd be surprised if he doesn't have some success at Vandy, at least enough to land a bigger job.

In the real world, he took the Vandy job because he wasn't going to get the Maryland job and was going to be out on the street looking for a job.

Their offensive scoring stats were inflated by some blowouts against very poor competition. I don't think they scored more than 20 against a halfway decent defense all season. And he'll see a lot of defenses better than halfway good this year.
