Anybody know the Mullen connection with Torbush?

Being that hiring a decent DC is much easier than hiring an OC, I'm wondering where the connection to Torbush comes in? While he had some success years ago, this hire has puzzled me from the start. For a coach that is focused on bringing in energy and new attitudes, Torbush just seems like an odd choice

Byrne's dad is the AD there. Maybe they got hooked up that way. Or, maybe Torbush applied for the job, along with a bunch of other candidates, and Mullen selected him as the best fit out of them all.

Torbush's name came across his desk in a resume. Mullen knew him by rep. Called him in for an interview and they hit it off.

coached together at A&M. As far as the resume, I do not think that Torbush was the one who faxed it in. One was faxed in but it was by someone else.

When the job came open, Polk got a copy of Torbush's resume, made a PDF of it, and emailed it to Mullen from his Blackberry.
