I'm actually looking forward to watching it. First time it's been televised? Correct me if I'm wrong. My first one to see anyway. Can't wait to watch some of our commits and future commits out there. This game will give us as good as any at how good these guys are.

I got MS in this one. The O and D lines may dominate.

It's on Versus at 12:30ct.

No the first time on tv. MS will get killed. No Carr, Sanders, Hughes, Favre etc.
Just hope for no injuries to our signees.
That damn Pearl River Resort pop up sucks worse than Croom's offense.

There are still several weapons for MS..not as much as there could be. Football games are won on the Oline and Dlines. When Jackie was here and we were winning, we had huge O and D lines. MS team has a much bigger O line compared to AL's D line and our D line is pretty sick nasty...come one man, have faith in MS for once!

The last time we won was in 07'. I think we have a good chance to win tomorrow. Not having Carr, Sanders, and some others will hurt at WR, but we should be better than them up front. Our DL should be really good.

I know this is coming from Rosebowl, but he swears that last years team had a shot to win if they had picked the right OL. They didn't pick three or four OL who were going DI.</p>

I agree with whomever said that this was just for young athletes to get hurt before college. Mississippi hasn't done that well recently anyway, and that's odd because we produce some of the best high school talent in the nation.

That is also why Mississippi does such a poor job of producing DI QB's and immediate impact WR's. It is changing but we are at least 10 years behind compared to Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, etc. in terms of high schools running offenses a little more sophisticated than running it 99% of the time. As great as South Panola has been, and Madison Central before them, I think it speaks poorly that the dominant teams in Mississippi high school football at the highest level hardly ever attempted a pass.

MS may be dominated worse than last season. QB play will suffer...you'll see USM's future tomorrow (and I mean future WR or whatever they move him to). OL is struggling from what I hear. DL may be OK.

Top skill players in the state taking ACT or sitting this one out. Could be long day.

I think Mississippi's problem, from what I can tell, is that we don't want to win it as bad as Bama.

I'd like to see some other changes. Like:

A. MAIS players allowed to play. Despite how some people feel about them, there are some good players that could help the Mississippi team. Like Whitt Haggard at Lamar. Would have been nice to use a guy like Will Overstreet in the past, to.

B. Teams should be allowed to have more than two players selected. It's not like Greenville-Weston is going to have their feelings hurt if they don't have a player selected, so why have a limit? Oak Grove has four guys that deserve to be on the team. Select them. How is it fair to anyone to limit the amount of selections that a school can have?

C. Play the game on a weekend that they're NOT having the ACT. There's probably only about 48 to pick from. Next weekend actually would probably be ideal.

I don't see any value in playing this game. No benefit at all to the players or the schools that are recruiting them. As for TV, this is the first national telecast; however, it has been shown locally in Mobile on a few occasions.

Versus, formerly Outdoor Life Network, was rebranded in 2006 and is the home of the National Hockey League as well as collegiate sports from the Pac-10, Big 12, Mountain West and Ivy League conferences, the Tour de France bicycle race, Davis Cup Tennis, the Professional Bull Riders (PBR), World Extreme Cage fighting (WEC), the Indy Racing League and Professional Boxing.</p>

The network is available in about 75 million homes and is wholly-owned by Comcast. It is unclear how many subscribers the network has on DirecTV, which has about 24.2 million subscribers overall.</p>

In a statement, DirecTV said that the dispute centers on carriage fees. According to SNL Kagan, Versus was getting about 18 cents per subscriber per month in carriage fees from cable operators in 2009.</p>

"In our contract discussions, Comcast has demanded a deal for Versus that is not comparable to other providers and is pushing for a significant rate hike that does not reflect current market terms or the value of its programming," DirecTV said in a prepared statement. "We will continue to try and negotiate a fair deal, but we intend to hold the line on our programming costs and protect our customers against these unfair demands that are both discriminatory and wholly unrealistic given current market rates. If we do not reach an agreement, the network will come down on Sept. 1 following the expiration of our contract with Versus."</p>

<font color="#850000">DirecTV has a different take</font>:</p>
A brief question and answer on DirecTV's website puts the blame for this issue on Versus.</p>Versus is asking for terms which do not reflect the market and which they are not asking of all other distributors. DIRECTV wants to keep your monthly fees low, so it's doing everything it can to avoid paying exorbitant programming fees.

Obviously, the NHL is affected, as they are the main anchor of Versus' programming.</p>

Go watch the Rivals video report of the game and you're outlook on the game may change. Yes they probably have better WRs bc some of the MS kids didn't want to play and a better QB, but from what I understand we have better lines on both sides of the ball and our DBs against their WRs are supposed to be a good matchup.

Just as I called it. OL play was poor, QB play was worse. Defense did what they could and put offense in position. 44 total yards of offense...Bama wasn't much better - they only had 138. Top QB in the state plays next weekend in North/South game. Someone said it on MSSportsTalk...Favre cost Hart twice. Beat him for state title and then Hart loses the next one by not having him. Needed Carr to play in this one as well.
