that in 1999, we were all pissed about going to the Peach and wanted to go to a bowl game in Florida, and now a lot of people are upset that we're not going to the Peach and are going to a bowl game in Florida.

Sure Atlanta is easier but the payout goes Outback...Gator....Chik-fil-a. Plus it's on New Year's Day. We're playing on freaking New Year's Day against Michigan...2 years after a 45-0 pasting at the hands of the Bears!!

Edited to add this. And not sure why Gator supposedly gets SEC #6 and Peach gets SEC #5..yet Gator is higher payout.

It's not a lot bigger payout, but it is more. According to what I've seen payout for Gator is 2.75 million and the SEC team gets 2.4 mill for Chick while ACC team gets 3.25 mill.

The Chick FilA Bowl is nice but I don't think it's a slight in the least to be playing in the Gator.

The Gator is the sixth oldest bowl and been played continuously since 1946. We know after the last few days that there is no real pecking order in bowl selection for the SEC. They pick who they want and there is only a very loosely structured order of picks. I don't think we got snubbed, I just think some people got their feelings hurt by buying hotel rooms/tickets in Atlanta and it didn't pan out.
