seems crazy to transfer now. Our luck, Russell backs out on us and we are down to Lee, Relf and Hollinsworth. Good luck new coach, whoever you are.

after UK, but, if that is true, and if it can be documented, then that MFer has GOT to be called on it. He got on that Atlanta radio station and made it seem as though he was doing everything asked of him so he could stay (moving Woody out, inking Borges). If it can be proven that he put his house up after UK his house of cards falls.

"Croom's house has been for sale for weeks" et al...

From his quotes to the non-local media, it sure sounds like he expected to be here next year, so was he just tired of the kitchen in the house he had? Looking for something a little closer to town? What the crap?

EDIT: Damn, Shmuley, we seem to be crossing paths a lot here lately.

<h2>Top QB might be a Tide prospect again</h2> <div class="photo-right">
<div class="caption" style="WIDTH: 200px"> Tyler Russell </div> </div>Most likely, AJ McCarron will be the only quarterback Alabama will sign in this year's class. But there's a chance the Tide might get back in the mix for another top quarterback.

Sylvester Croom's resignation last week surprised several prospects committed to Mississippi State, including star quarterback Tyler Russell of Meridian. Croom's departure might open the door for other schools to move in on Russell, and one of those schools could be Alabama.</p>

"It was a big shock to me," Russell says of Croom's decision to step down. "I never expected that to happen. But things change and you have to be prepared to move forward."</p>

In leading Meridian to a 13-1 record this season, Russell has completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 3,041 yards and 39 touchdowns, with just five interceptions. He's also rushed for 327 yards and eight touchdowns.</p>

The 6-5, 210-pound Russell made a huge impression on quarterbacks coach/offensive coordinator Jim McElwain at the Tide's 7-on-7 passing camp last summer. Since then the Alabama staff has kept tabs on Russell.</p>

Word is that an Alabama assistant might be in Jackson, Mississippi for the state championship game this Friday night to watch Russell lead Meridian against perennial powerhouse Batesville-South Panola.</p>

While Russell declines to discuss specifics about other schools, he admits to keeping his options open.</p>

"Right now, I'm still committed to Mississippi State," Russell says. "But I have no idea who they are going to bring in. <font color="#660000">The athletic director and Coach [Rocky] Felker have called and told me they plan to hire a coach with a wide-open passing style.</font> But if they bring in a running coach, then I don't think that would be a fit for me."</p>

"If other schools talk to me and are interested in me, I will listen," he adds. "I'm not going to burn a bridge by not listening to what other schools have to say, because I don't know what's going to happen at Mississippi State."</p>

This is the one thing that I can state this week as FACT. There were several games this year that for sales signs made it into his yard after a bad loss. There were two ladies that live in the same subdivision that made it their job to get up the morning after games and remove the signs out of his yard at 5:00 AM. They think a lot of him and made it their job to keep signs out of his yard. He was absolutely blown away by being canned and had ZERO plans to sell his house.

From what I can glean from some of the CB's was that Crooms ultimatum was to win UK, UARK and OM or UAT. I think Croom thought the UARK victory might delay the inevitiability of the situation, but no.

Greg started work on this "project" just after the La Tech game and kicked it into another gear after the the GT debaucle

But my question (and Shmuley's too, I think) is this: Was he planning to move to another house in Starkville?

Because according to his interviews, he sure as hell sounded surprised that he wouldn't be needing that house anymore.

If it can be determined that he knew he wouldn't be needing that house anymore, then that pisses me off ROYALLY based on the comments he's given to the media. Someone should call him on it.

Who's to say he wasn't getting ready to build a bigger house?

If my wife and I had been our house 5 years and I'd just doubled my salary, I might look to upgrade too.

I was told that his house could be purchased for X amount of dollars. My reaction was..."****, that sounds high". Something was also said about the university had offered to pay something lower. At the time it seemed like he was possibly hedging just in case something happened or he was looking for a fish.

If he really was 'blown away' by being canned after his performance the last FIVE years then it's no wonder he couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag with his entire offensive line to help him.

I did not know that Stans lived out there out Browning Creek too. Nice place out there. The house is so nice he might have a tough time selling it due to it being a very pricey house for Vegas.

Not only does Stans live out there, but Woody also lived at Browning Creek. Agree about Croom's house, very nice looking place. Woody will have a harder time selling his house than Croom. Doesn't look as good in my opinion.

Croom was very blown away. Everything he said in the interview was true. When the rumors about us getting the Auburn coordinator after Franklin was fired over there came out, they were true. It was just we were talking about Al, not Franklin. The Nov 8 open weekend everything was made final that McCorvey was moving on and Borges was going to come in. Carroll rumor is false. Croom was blown away because everyone was set with the Borges situation and expected to just move on after the season was over. There was no agreement to win X games in order to stay. The only agreement made was the coaches had bonuses waiting if they reached 6 wins and of course bowl bonuses if we went to a bowl game.
