Count me in on the infrastructure bill, at least the highway part of it. I've never seen that many cars on the Interstate in my life. I was on it for 700 miles from western Kentucky to Fort Worth.

Yes, same here. Departed White Castle on Scottsville Rd Bowling Green at 10 am CST yesterday morning. Arrived ATX around 12:30 am this morning. 14.5 hour trip. Traffic just stopped totally a few places in Arkansas between Memphis and Little Rock westbound. Also slow going between Little Rock and Malvern AR on I-30. Slow around Jackson, TN on I-40 westbound.

Incidentally, White Castle 1921 slider is killer.

How many restroom stops did you have to make after eating those sliders (gut bombs) on your 11 hour trip? White Castle tastes good but there is a price to pay if you don't have an iron constitution.

Wide open borders are one thing politically but another issue practically. If it's politically allowed everything needs expanded to meet practical need otherwise the entire system collapses.

That's also why it's important illegals are counted on the census. That way we get an accurate picture of how many people are here so we know what needs to be done.

I-95 going through Baltimore heading toward New York Wednesday before Thanksgiving wasn’t a good idea. Construction and The amount of people going NorthEast …. Extra 3 hrs to get through there. 🤮

Hate driving on I-95 & I-26 going back and forth between East TN and Florida on the crumbling, archaic, clogged portions in South Carolina. You can be sailing along at 75-80 one minute, then slowed to a crawl or completely stopped the next, then traffic will pick back up and there's no accident or construction to be seen. It's by far the worst part of our trip.

I hope whatever group that is 'working' on New Circle Road in Lexington between Leestown and Boardwalk get some of that sweet sweet infrastructure cash. It's almost like all the workers were either raptured or turned into traffic cones and barrels.

Every person I know that has to drive the East coast, from NYC to Miami, 100% absolutely loathe I-95, and do everything they can to avoid it like the Bubonic Plague

I took the interstate from Louisville to Atlanta and back for thanksgiving. Only issues on the way south was a massive wreck outside of Nashville and then the normal terrible traffic in Atlanta. On the way home there was a huge wreck in front of the opryland hotel on 65 south that had traffic blocked off for several miles. On Black Friday. Thankfully I was going north.

They're important for Dims that they're counted as they increase Dim representatives without votes since they tend to live in Dim areas. Dim congressional districts average way fewer votes.

I like the infrastructure bill so much that I plan on using the same premise this coming spring. We’re planning a total kitchen remodel that will run upwards of $30k. I’m having the bill put in my 1 year old granddaughter’s name. I’m sure she won’t mind paying off tomorrow what I get to enjoy today. It’s really brilliant!

You all are crazy for traveling those distances over Thanksgiving. That Sunday after Thanksgiving is probably the worst travel day of the year. People leave on various days for their Thanksgiving travel, but almost all of them drive back on Sunday. I stopped doing that many moons ago.

Well about a quarter of the trillion is going towards roads, bridges, etc. Kentucky's portion of this should help rebuild, repair the Ohio River bridge (which is greatly important). Not sure if it will help anywhere else in the State.

I get that some people have no other option.. but man, some of these drives sound terrible. The most I would ever drive for the holidays, or ever had to, was 2-3 hours. Anything further is too much IMO, and shouldn't be expected.

At some point, you celebrate and enjoy the holidays with your own household and family near by. Uncle Marty who lives 8 hours south will just have to live with a Christmas card.

I keep telling my wife this...we don't need to see our families that live 25-30 minutes away in the western part of our county. We got to keep it in the Eastside for the holiday season.

Seriously though, I hate the holidays and my wife thinks I am the Grinch reincarnated. I am Tim Allen from that movie when he wants to go on a cruise and then his daughter comes home for Xmas.

A bunch of buddies and I were talking about this when we were watching the games yesterday: Holidays are fun when you're a kid, and they become increasingly a pain in the butt.

We hosted Thanksgiving.. so we spent nearly 3 entire days cleaning, decorating and getting the house ready.. we had to buy a **** ton more supplies and food than we would have if we just went to someone else's house, I got next to Zero leftovers (pissed about this), and because of the way garbage collection skipped several days.. it was 11 days between collections, and I just spent a half hour picking up all the trash that the squirrels got into.

I'll host Christmas for my kids cause that's important to them.. but I couldn't care if I never hosted again otherwise lol.

As for travel, thankfully the close portion of our family is all within a few hours of each other. And if we don't all get together for the specific holiday.. we usually do something in between. But I just can't imagine having to spend two full days basically traveling, either by plane or car, during this time.

Which one? There are numerous bridges that cross the Ohio river

And I agree with everything you said. And its STILL 100% better than driving I-75 through Atlanta. To get to our house in WNC I drive the route you described because it's 3 hours to get through/around Atlanta

After living most of my life in Lexington and Versailles, I moved to Savannah, GA in 2014. We do the 75 drive many times a year, between here and Lex or here and Knoxville, where our grandbabies are. I’m talking a hundred trips between then and now, including the trip we returned from a couple days ago. We run into issues in the same areas every single time.

The obvious is Atlanta. But it’s not the city itself. It’s the 75 drive above and below Atlanta that gets bottlenecked. Especially south of Atlanta. It clears out after that. Other than the ATL issue, our only problem is the dumbass state of Tennessee. It’s the only state on the 75 corridor that refuses to go three lanes and 70mph. I get the Jellicho deal, but they’ve been working on that for 20 years. Still zero progress. Tennessee, you suck.

I will drive out of the way to avoid the Atlanta Chattanooga corridor on 75 and I am getting close to that attitude about driving through Nashville. The state of Georgia never upgraded Atlanta's highways for their population explosion and it looks like the state of TN is heading down the same path with Nashville. It's noticeable how crappy 65 gets as soon as you cross from KY into TN.

See above, TN hasn't maintained 65 either and Nashville is quickly on it's way to becoming a bigger cluster**** than Atlanta.

Was in Nashville this past summer for the first time in several years. I couldn't believe what horrible shape their roads are in and how frigging crowded Nashville had become. Bumper to bumper traffic everywhere

Just have to say thank the lord for my hotel discount. When I head down there for Thanksgiving I always stop halfway. Get off work Tuesday at 5 hit the half way point. $45 at an Embassy Suites and then get up early and hit my brothers house before noon. Any later and I'm stuck in traffic for hours

Grew up in Owensboro and Nashville was always a long weekend spot. In 39 years Nashville has always had terrible traffic.

I agree that political angle is the reason they wanted them counted. However as a practical matter they need counted in some form or fashion so we can increase infrastructure. If they're allowed to continually pour in, we have to be ready for it. So far we're way behind that curve.

In my early years of marriage, my bride and I would travel from Iowa to Kentucky (eastern & western) for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It always seemed like everyone was mad that we had to leave to go see the other side of the family. Splitting things up often meant we spent most of Christmas day in the car and hoped that we could find a gas station open. Returning to Iowa meant driving the last 1-2 hours in snowy conditions (end of 8.5-10 hr drive). Mostly put an end to that when my wife started working as a nurse and had to work holidays. I also refused to do it with our daughter.

Now most everyone but my mom is dead and she is trying to guilt me into coming home for Christmas. I'm not really interested in it anymore. I'll be down when the weather is nice and the roads aren't crowded.

I agree completely. And Xmas is so expensive for me as I married into a big family and 4 kids, including 3 steps. And all the 3 step kids want are mindless and ridiculously priced technology. They all 3 got a xbox one like 2 years ago from my wife's mom (I'd never green light that as my bro and me shared a ps, ps2, etc growing up) and all already want the new Xbox. It never ends lol.

Anybody that knows how the 2009 “shovel ready” projects actually went, or knows how much cash we have basically piled up and set ablaze in the Middle East, or knows how little of this BBB bill will actually improve existing infrastructure, or knows that this spending is destroying the future in a way that says “hold my beer” to climate change…that person would probably be ok with a later ETA for the holidays.

Yeah, can't make any time there for sure. I've considered alternative routes through SC, but their secondary roads are just as bad. I have no idea what South Carolina does with their tax money for roads, because they don't spend it on them.

Kingsport. At least until Dec 16th. I think I'm going back home for the FHSAA state championships in Fort Lauderdale. I'll go back to TN for Christmas and get Mrs Hoss and Sam (dog). We're thinking about going to the bowl game if it's in Tampa or Orlando. Let me know when you're up here and if we're here maybe we can grab lunch. We're usually in Kingsport from Thanksgiving thru Christmas and maybe a couple of months during the summer.

I noticed back in the summer I65 from ky line crossing over into TN that the roads a ridiculous and I seen the guardrails are all damaged and beat all to hell. It seem like every quarter mile there's wreck debre and potholes the size of basketballs.

Tennessee has to have the worst interstates in the country. One of my best friends moved from Kentucky to a suburb of Memphis last year. Wife and I took a long weekend to visit them last summer.

I was astounded by how ****** I-65 was from the TN line to just north of Nashville. That was nothing compared to how awful I-40 was. Four lanes the whole way. Way too much traffic for that road. Surface looked like it hadn’t been touched since at least the 1980s.
