What is about the ball still being in play that Artesia or the NMAA doesn't get? To paraphrase a boxing referee " Gentlemen, protect yourself (the ball, in this case) at ALL times."

I agree. Live ball. Why should offense get to play keep away by taking a knee. Tachtical game of inches my friend.

I've seen this happen quite a few times. It was always flagged as a neutral zone infraction.

I've always seen that when a team tells the official they are taking a knee they tell the opposing team to stay back.

what I don't get is they already had 4 consecutive off sides/encroachments. if they were doing this or had a reputation for doing it, why not take a shotgun snap, then drop?

Also, as Ogre points out, usually officials make the D back off, wonder why not here? since clock does not start, they could have literally done it 20 times in a row until it worked, makes no sense...

Yea, this should always be off sides. or maybe Rule 9.9 and give them 15 yards on each one. Refs should have taken control of this.
