could make Mullen wish he already took a different job? I can't imagine him sticking around here for another4 years if this is what happens every February.

in the recruiting efforts, but in his own words and mentality, "you have to work hard, nothing is handed to you."

do I think he didn't work hard? no. but I do think that he thought some of our verbals were locks and were going to be "handed to us" and that those recruits recruitment were semi-over. it may have been that we had a few nice verbals from recruits that have jello for brains or Dan was not sticking to what he preaches.

until Dan proves me wrong, i'm sticking the "jello for brains" excuse.

Just another reason why coaching at State will always be a challenge.
It's being in the SEC. If he doesn't want toknow about players getting paid, he will be at a disadvantage. This year just happened to beparticularly bad b/c everyoneseems to think (rightfully?) that the NCAA is out of the enforcement business when it comes tofootball recruiting and Nutt is particularly desparate. The problemwith having an up and comer is getting caught in a pay for play scheme tends to make younot such an up and comer. Theadvantage of having somebody on the downslope is they have nothing to lose.If Nutt plays it relatively clean (as in small benefits, typical stuff prior to Camgate), OM sucks and he gets fired and he gets to either retire or take another step down the coaching ladder. If OM pays big and then gets hammered by the SEC,Nutt gets to either retire or take another step down the coaching ladder, but he has the chance to get away with it and cash a few more seven figure checks. It'sa no brainer for him and they're reaping the benefits right now in recruiting.

sitting alone in the Bryan Building, sobbing quietly, wondering how he's ever going to be good at anything at dear ol' State.</p>

Personally, I don't think the decommits have anything to do with Starkville, MSU, or Dan Mullen. It's all about the cash. If it gets to be a problem, we'll probably just start matching offers.<div>
</div><div>We have guys coming in who wanna work hard for us. We have a lot of talent coming back. I don't think Dan's worried. We're fine.</div>

What it feels like to repeatedly go up against the likes of Slive and the Khayat crew all while Larry Templeton is scurrying around funneling information to them?Got to sting a little.

..if there is anything that would make Mullen second guess his commitment to Miss. State, it's that he didn't sign a recruiting class that was satisfactory in the eyes of missouridawg on the Internet.

Seriously, how do you people function in real life?
