Why is everyone so convinced that Gran is the man? Because a couple of bloggers have said so? I did some quick "background" on Gran during halftime.

Gran has been virtually a lifetime coach with Tubs, almost 20 years at 3 schools (MS, AU and Cincy). He will be 51 this July and has not been a name you hear mentioned for HC jobs. Might be safe to say he is "career assistant". While going from OC at Cincy to OC at UK might be a resume builder for a "young" guy it seems to me pretty much a lateral move for a guy that has been around as long as he has. He may be at a career point where "stability and security" mean more than "opportunity".

On that point, JMO, but I think Tubs is more secure at Cincy that CMS at UK. There will be considerable pressure on UK to perform next year and anyone joining CMS's staff should consider the real possibility it could be just a 2 year run. Gran makes about $370K at Cincy but per the game reporters said Tubs is working a new deal with Cincy and trying to get raises for assistants. UK paid Brown and Dawson about $550K and would likely offer Gran about the same. If Cincy ups his pay to say, $450K, would the "risk" at UK be worth the extra $100K? I don't know but I guess we will all know soon.

I was never all in with Dawson. I honestly didn't know what to think about Dawson. Some said he called his own plays and some didn't at WVU.
