Anyone ever relaced a baseball glove?

I have an old Wilson A2000 that is great, but the laces are breaking all over. I'm too old to buy a new glove... I see some kits available online, but I don't know if this is really a DIY I want to undertake.

Anyone ever relaced a glove? Or had someone else do it? I'm in the Jackson area if anyone knows of a local person/shop.

Not successfully, no. Suggest you swap your A2000 glove for a T2000 racquet (I actually still have one of these).

The trick is to re-lace as you go. Every time the old leather exits a hole the new leather goes in. What's tricky is the leather wound around the edges that hold the two pieces of the shell together. It is a job that will drive you bonkers.

I'm with you. Splurge and replace it with a new one. There are a lot of less popular manufacturer's out there that make awesome gloves. Bought a Vinci glove a few years ago to replace my old high school glove, and it will probably last the rest of my life.

I just enjoyed the process of researching them and picking one out. If you get one and end up not liking it, gloves are pretty easy to sell online.

Some sporting goods stores will relace them for you. I would call around and ask.

If you are talking about the pocket and the cross ones at the tips of the fingers, it is pretty easy with the leather needle. The ones on the edges and internal support ones get very difficult.

They do have ones like Shoeless Joe and Nokona which start out much softer that the old Rawlings and Wilsons and break in much quicker.

Try Dynasty Baseball Gloves, Relace and Repair.

Anywhere from $50-$70. A2000 is a great glove to have repaired.

Years ago I had my softball glove relaced, I think at Judge Little in Meridian, and it never worked right. I had to go with a new one.

In that case, you're better off devoting yourself to your fantasy baseball team. They need you healthy coach.

You can buy a new glove and have it steamed. Helps break them in rapidly. I've also been very impressed with Mizuno gloves. Might consider looking at a good quality leather glove from Mizuno (or other brand) and get it steamed. Been a few years since I bought gloves, but when I shopped around, I felt the Mizuno was the best price for a high-end glove.

I promise I'm not trying to be a dick or break your balls, here.

But, if this is the case then why do you need to break in a new glove at all?

Well this glove is falling apart so i either need to repair it or get a new one to struggle around the softball field with for just a few more years...

Seriously, though, it’s a price thing. The glove i have is $300 or more new. I love it, but the laces are breaking. If it can be repaired for $50-75, then I’d probably rather keep it than buy a cheaper model new glove.
