Anyone going to downtown Memphis tonight?

I just realized how big of a cluster 17 it's going to be. The Grizzlies and Redbirds are playing tonight, and Riverside Dr is closed because Music Fest starts tonight. Throw on top of thatFriday afternooncommuters and commercial traffic heading across the river. One wreck and I55 downtown may be backed up beyond the 55/240 junction. Even without a wreck it will probably be backed up at least to Mallory. Looks like I may be heading down to the Grizzlies game at 4. Silky's, here I come.

It's not the Music Fest that's in trouble, it's the BBQ contest. They're talking about cutting the participants down because there won't be much room. The rain coming Sunday/Monday is not going to help things at all.

Nothing official yet. But like tommyboy said Shelby Farms may not be a good idea either. I have a friend that lives off the Wolf River near Shelby Farms. He was told last night to start looking for a hotel because they are about to start evacuatingthe area.</p>

Wolf River/Humphreys Blvd. was closed between G'town Pkwy and Riverdale. The Wolf River keeps on swelling.

Probably a better idea. I would assume it would be more dry, have better access for a crowd that size, and be more convenient for electricity/power.

I live in that area. Humphreys is about to be flooded. CBHS's football and baseball fields are already flooded.

Going to head down about 3 pm myself to beat the crowd and visit the Flying Saucer pre concert. Decided to get a hotel room downtown and walk instead of fighting the traffic. </p>

I thought it was going to be terrible, but MPD actually did a great job of crowd/traffic control. Now, Memphis in May may complicate things from last week... but maybe not.

I'm scheduled to be a judge for the BBQ contest. We got an e mail this week saying there were "contingency plans" in place, but no final decision hadbeen made to move the contest. Butwith the river rising like it is, there's no way Tom Lee Park will be dry.

the actual farm part is in the Wolf River basin and is already flooded. But the main parts of Shelby Farms are pretty high up. Any road or trail past patriot lake goes up hill a decent way. More than enough to avoid Wolf River.

Now, those people living just off Humphries are screwed! We were out there yesterday and it was almost to the road. We are at least 6 inches higher today.
