Anyone got any thoughts on why Manny Diaz was such a failure at Texas?...

thought he was a good DC for us. I know we had some good defensive personnel when he was here but Texas has talent as well.

Because he was promoted way too fast, and was exposed as someone...

that could not adjust to a conference of fast paced offenses.

At that time, Brown was panicking and somebody had to be the sacrificial goat maybe. He may resurface at a later date.

Panicking for a reason

Texas had brought in Greg Robinson as a consultant.
The week that they played BYU, the suggestion was that go to 8 in the box and make BYU pass.
Apparently Manny did everything but that, and gave up 550 yds. rushing.

For that alone he should have been fired.

I have no idea about the dynamics that were in play in Austin at that time, but Manny had more than enough Talent do much better.

Also, I think his film had been available long enough for teams to understand what he was going to do, (between MSU and Texas).

I wish him well.
