Anyone have an update on Finebaum?

If he is offered a job within 90 days of when he left WJOX. His WJOX contract says they can match any offers. Finebaum is laying low until the 90 days is up. I'm guessing he will suddenly find the perfect job and sign a contract on day 91 and be on the air day 92 (aprox. 4/22)
i think he had some kind of "non-compete" language as well..

They just ended their 2-6 show (Max Howell) a day or two ago and are doing the "temp" thing with fill ins. They are the ESPN affiliate here in B'ham and openly advertised/hinted all last fall that they'd be getting Finebaum.

There's a little fly in the ointment for Finebaum now, and there is a chance he will re-appear at JOX.
The day that Finebaum's contract expired, the program director for JOX, Ron Haney, also resigned. Haney took a job with 97.3, and the expectation was Finebaum and maybe Jay Barker would follow him over there. Jox sued Haney to enforce the non-compete agreement in his contract (a contract that had expired, and was a contract between Haney and the former owner of JOX). Although the non-compete agreement was most likely unenforceable, Cox did not have the stomach for the legal battle, and Haney returned to JOX.
Indications are that Barker may stay with JOX, particularly since Haney is back. I think Finebaum had some serious issues with JOX and won't likely return, but with Haney there you never know.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Paul Finebaum's 90-day wait is over, but barring a late development, don't expect the popular Birmingham sports-talk radio host to return to the air today.
More likely, Finebaum could be back on the radio sometime later this week, but whether he will move to ESPN 97.3 The Zone or return to WJOX 94.5 FM, he is still not saying.

Whatever they do, this new midday show on JOX is terrible. And the other station is still sticking with their inferiority complex. The only advertisements they do spend more time insulting JOX than pushing their own station. The ONLY think that station has going for them is the ESPN tie-in.
The only show worth a damn on B'ham radio now is The Roundtable that took over the 2-6 slot. I just assume JOX give them the lunch hours as well.
