Anyone have new pics of the almost bowled in DWS?

In that gallery - would it bother you to sit in the old West side and have someone in the same row a foot above you?

Photos don't do justice to what a change it is when you're in the stadium. Standing in the south endzone near the M-Club it's jarring at first, how it seems to tower over the field. Obviously every stadium in the SEC has similar endzone seating, it's just so foreign at DWS.

I always thought our stadium was more impressive when you were on the field b/c of the height of the structure. Just the not a bowled in endzone is what made it look bad. This completes it for me.

That's why I always thought in my biased viewpoint - that DWS seemed like a more "big time" stadium than VHS because VHS doesn't have any height.

As fun as it is to keep seeing these updates, I don't think the photos do justice to just how loud it's going to be from now on either. 60,000 screaming fans and cowbells in a bowled in stadium is going to be deafening.

Here are 3 photos I took that show the only semi-impressive view..

...of DWS in the past. The expansion changes that.

I stopped and went in one day last summer. I asked the same question when I...

...realized the difference in heights. It's definitely the most unfortunate necessity of the design we chose, though I've heard it could be due to the east and west sides being at different elevations.

That's right in the line of fire

of a carolina pride fart from the guy above. Not to mention peanut hulls falling in your coke.

But they will have to put a handrail there before the first game to meet code.

agreed about vhs...im not sure they built that with long-term expansion in mind.

as far as the appearance, its really going to be something once the jumbotron is erected and the rest of the structure goes in.

also, i have an interesting comment about mizzou's memorial stadium. to me, it doesnt look big at all, but it has hosted a crowd of 71,000. i guess thats a huge amount of people sitting on the grassy area on and around the "M":

but, when its filled up like this, the number becomes more agreeable:

their current expansion is in progress as well (for those that dont know)

and if they ever get it like this, its going to be pretty dang nice:

That's why people in Oxford referred to it as "the redneck double-deck". They knew their's looked very tame in comparison to it. I'll be the first to admit I hated sitting on the upper decks at DWS. It is not for the faint of heart. Especially climbing down to leave. If anybody has ever climbed the Mayan pyramid at Chit'cheniza, before they banned climbing it, it gives you the same sense of fear except DWS doesn't have the chain to hold on to that the pyramid did.

I've heard people say that the elevations on the east and west don't match

and that is the reason, but it seems to me that all they had to do was push the new northwest corner away from the field about 3' without changing any elevations in order to get it to match the existing section 6 (old sec. f). Would hate to think the reason is a design flaw, maybe sight lines for the people in that new corner section have something to do with it.

I know the elevation change on the west side is not near as much at the bottom as it is the top. As you get towards the top, the steps are a *****.

Even if they don't match, you could make it work. Just have a slight slope all the way around til it matches up.
