Anyone know anything about basketball prospects Lacey and Parks?

I just saw where these two guys are 4 star shooting guards that have State listed. One is from Collierville and the other is from Huntsville. With all the talk about the Mississippi class I have not heard anything about these two.

...is Bobby Parks, Jr. Senior was a star small forward and ace defender at Memphis State back in the day. He's something of a legend in the Phillipines from playing pro down there. He married a Phillipino and I think Ray has dual citizenship. Ray was about 6-1 or 6-2 playing the wing at St. George's in Memphis (where Laurence Bowers of Mizzou and Elliot Williams of Duke/Memphis played) in 9th and 10thgrade. He was a very good scorer against admittedly inferior competition...notsuper quick but a good stroke and could get his own shot. Smart basketball player.

Raytransferred to Melrose last year and I'm not real sure how he did. That wassupposed to be a heck of a team. From a couple of years ago, I'd say if he got to 6-4 or so he might could be a high D-1 wing prospect...not sure if he's got the quicks to play point.

Adeptly coached by an MSU grad, btw.

that Parks has never had a "nice stroke" and there is enough baggage to attract Stansbury...a trait he seems to love. If he touches Parks, who has very little interest otherwise, he is everything Coach 34 makes him out to be.

What type of "baggage" are we talking about?

I honestlydidn't think he did all that phenomenal of a job when he had all that talent. Theyended up losingin the state tournament to Harding who was led byMarlon Brown, the WR that went toGeorgia. St. George's was more talented, though.

They won state at that level last year in what I thought was the best coaching job I saw all season...literally. They had a star scorer who I think may have signed with a small school but everybody else was just a typical small school player. The whole team played their role perfectly.I only saw them3-4 times but it was a pleasure to watch.

the word drama instead of baggage. I wasn't referring to him being bought etc. My point was more of the soap opera that has surrounded his high school career. He left St. Georges like the Colts left Baltimore, in the middle of the night. He "established" residency in Desoto County in time to enroll there for the beginning of the school year in MS, knowing he couldn't enroll directly at Melrose and be eligible. Then, he left Desoto later in the fall and "established" residency in the Melrose district so he would be eligible there. I did not see him play last year at Melrose, but am told he came off the bench for about 5 points per game. Granted Melrose was awful talented..still. Now, I can't confirm this but I was told he was currently playing this year in the Phillipines. Again, I am not positive of this.

As for his talent, no doubt he is a decent player. But to me, he really is one of those guys without a position. Not a point...not a 2....not a 3...and obviously not a post player. But, I'm sure Stans must see something I guess. I also question him being a 4 star. I don't think the Memphis offer is legit. Not sure he even has a commitable offer from State either.

You are right about the coaching job at St. Georges last year. Great job. And I can tell you firsthand, he enjoyed last year as much as any year with the guys he had. The player you mentioned, Asa Toney was a great HS player with a great attitude. He signed with Maryville College. The year before, St. Georges with Parks as a Soph lost at the buzzer in the State Championship game with Parks and 4 chairs on the floor. That was a good coaching job. The year you mention with the loss to Harding, they had a good year with 28-3 record but just had a terrible shooting night vs Harding. No doubt that team was loaded. And that brings up this point with Parks. He felt he needed to transfer from St. Georges to get a better look for college. How does one argue that point when Williams signed with Duke, transferred to Memphis and got drafted in the NBA this year and Bowers signed with Mizzou? I'd say that if you can play...you can play. And he was getting a great education at St. Georges...something I would think Melrose would be a tad below! Anyway...just my two cents.
