It's obvious Mullen is going with what he knows.... recruit the fastest kids possible and figure a way to get them the ball "in space". Berry, Langston, Bumphis, Perkins and Slay all have some things in common. They're all smallish receivers/slots/H-backs that make people miss in the open field and have the speed to get to the corner.

and only played in 5 or so games. If you look at his stats - he averaged almost 9 yards a carry last year and almost 7 yards per carry before he was hurt this year.</p>

and I ran across a highlight video from the 2003 Arkansas/MSU football game. And for some reason I watched it.

Anyway, the thing that stood out to me was how much more athletic we were then compared to now. We were poorly coached then, we were way out of position, people running wrong routes, and etc. but at least we looked up to speed with Arkansas. I don't know how good that Arkansas team was, but they had Matt Jones, and etc.

It really pisses me off to look at us now with the midget QB's, the smurf o-line, the walk-on WR's who can't catch or run routes right (Football coaches- is that something that is really THAT hard to teach? No one else seems to have the chronic problems with route running and catching the ball that we do.) and the overweight RB's tiptoeing to the line.

Too bad Croom didn't go in with the attitude that Mullen has off trying to make chicken salad with chicken instead of "Hey! Let's implode this thing and do it the right way!" What are we? South Alabama?
