That it doesn't matter whether he has talked with him. If we couldn't keep a guy who averaged 35 mpg and would be THE guy returning, I don't have any hope for the immediate future.

And we won't next year, with or without him... He could be NBA bound after his next season. If we loose this class, MSU basketball is dead as we know it, or 5 or 6 years...

Well he won't be playing in it next year either because he has to sit out a year. Completely a baseless and dumbass decision.

I guess it's not surprising that he wants a fresh start somewhere. This years team had about 5 cancers, each capable of team destruction. Maybe cancer is a strong word, but we definitely had more players that were only concerned about themselves than team players. And that is never a recipe for success. So while Hood wouldve been THE guy for the next couple of years in Starkville, I can kinda see why he would want to cut his losses and find a new, probably more visible place to play than a rebuilding MSU program.

All that to say, I'm still on the ledge about this new direction of our program, but it is now an absolute MUST to get Pollard and keep Sword and Thomas and Ware. I don't know much about Gray, but if he is of the same type of player as most of last years team, it may be best to release him anyway. Hopefully he is not.

I mean these are 18 year olds who would relish the fact of being "the man" on the team.....to me this seems like another angle we can pitch to Pollard....

no we likely wouldn't be in the NCAAs next year but the year following be very well could be and with Hood transferring he has ZERO chance to play in the NCAAs next year because he will be on somebody's bench sitting out.

which returning players are cancers? it's on rick ray to sell him on a new direction and guarantee him that if any cancers are returning, either they'll straighten up or they'll get the boot. it seems to me that if he was worried about the chemistry issues from last year, the roster purging and coaching turnover should be exactly what he was looking for, and ray didn't sell him on it.
