Anyone know the legit JQ time frame to return?

Pryor, for UL had the same procedure last November. He is just now getting a small amount of game time. Quaintance may be different but about one year is usually the case for full recovery.
I've read differently and I've heard that nine months it usually timeframe, but I'm sure it depends on each individual

I'll be shocked if we see him. If he does pull an SS, wonder how Pope would handle it?
Don’t think that’s gonna happen. Sharpe was a guaranteed lottery pick. JQ happens to be in one of the deepest NBA draft classes in recent memory where all kinds of players are set to become hot commodities. JQ has very little leverage and will need to show he has developed some offensive polish and has recovered from injury to be a guaranteed lottery pick. The Mikel Brown, Koa Peat, Cam Boozer, AJ Dybantsa, Caleb Wilson, Darryl Petersons etc will demand you really show out to be a high draft pick this year.

Shouldn’t make the money if you don’t okay.

knowing our past I’m gonna guess he will be ready for full contact on draft day.

Pryor’s surgery was Dec 11. JQ’s was March 19.
Pryor played 16 minutes on Nov 6. He is not on limited minutes. He didn’t play much yesterday because he is not better than the guys in front of him. The timetable is 9-12 months so a mid Dec or beginning of conference play is doable.

Y’all some funny guys. It’s like you think he or anyone else on the team is paid to play basketball. That’s free money. No contract with the school. At the very best, they might have to enroll and be on the roster. You guys thinking we paid for something are just hysterical.

Welcome to NIL, the entitlement program for poor little rich boys. Welcome yo the portal, the means to renegotiate your free money handout year after year. No obligations, no terms. Just free money.

And there are some exceptional comedians that tell me this was a just and good solution. lol!!! Right……

Have you had a positive post yet since you've come to the site?. I mean, you're not a troll. I believe you're fan but man you're pessimistic.. what's your name on the site? Don't worry about it.?
He's not a troll, and not everyone is going to say the same thing or agree with the same thing. The SS situation was something that should not have been allowed to happen here or at any program, and you can not possibly think that it couldn't happen again.

Speaking of trolls. See you show back up Sir after a loss. No one is ready to fire Pope yet, so you can return to your lair.

I think it very well could happen again with cal but not Pope. Also JQ and family appear to be nothing like Sharpe and his family.

I’ll say late December then he says it’s bothering him after one or two games then shuts its down then goes pro
My biggest fear is exactly that: he comes back, has a couple weeks of mediocre play, and announces he’s shutting it down for the season to focus on rehab and get ready for the draft. Or more likely they slow play it and we all wonder if he’s coming back until it’s clear he isn’t.

If we don’t get a high level JQ on the court by the end of the year I feel confident this team isn’t a serious contender, with the other bigs on the roster.

I don’t feel pessimistic. That’s my opinion because it’s a very likely Situation. Do I think this is a SS situation no. I think it’s a seven footer tryna come back from acl injury and it just isn’t likely he helps us much this year. I hope he does.love to be wrong about it.

You still haven't learned, have you Hater? Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't equate to "wanting Pope fired". I'll always be the chic that you can't flick.

What’s he gonna do about it he can’t force him to get out there . He’s already been paid. If he comes back and struggles he can easily say his leg is hurting him again and be out again or just you know like you said pull a SS which wouldn’t surprise me at all

OK maybe that was what I read. Let's hope he does well on that test!
I’ve always thought the of December to ramp up for January play. Not based on anything other than the usual timeline and how he was doing early in his recovery.

For reference January 19th is exactly 309 days since his surgery. That is a lot of recovery time with the medical care he has had.

That gives him 10 months of recovery with the best doctors in the world on it. He looks very well already as far as movement. Obviously playing is a different animal but I hope he just gradually gets back until going 100% for the SEC stretch run.

He has a legit injury so nothing he does is close to SS imho. If he is cleared to play, he should play. The only time it’s a terrible look is if he gets cleared and he refuses to play. The money, spot, etc.. could have been used for another player, but I think he wants to play. It is important he shows the NBA he has improved and is physically ready to go.

JQ will be the rim protector that we desperately need but I worry that our guards can't guard the perimeters.
Me too, I hope if that is the case that we go to a zone. There are defenses that can help hide some deficiencies. Even the Pitino Faux man to man zone he ran at Louisville would be good to use.

He does want to play. It seems like they have to have somebody watching him to keep him from dunking right now...

JQ was a horrible investment, IMO, ~$4M to have a player with non-contact practice or anything for at most three months of the season, if that, by the time he plays, they’ll be so tentative with him, his impact will be minimal, at best.
I'm starting to believe Pope has made quite a few of those. I hope I'm wrong and we make a run but if we don't do better than the sweet 16 this year then it's a failure! To be honest all the rah rah we should be final 4 ready and I sure hope so but not seeing it right now.

It will most likely be against NC Central, or Indiana. Those saying he won’t play or that he will play a few games and lock it up have no clue what kind of young man he is. He is a competitor and has a lot to prove.

Well I agree with you (that’s a first), but what are we to do about it? Stop being fans?

I mean honestly… what are YOU PERSONALLY going to do, bass? Because if your answer is “continue to cheer for the Cats”, then wtf is the point of lamenting it? The whole world pretty much sucks now, not just college basketball. Everything we grew up with is **** now. We can either adjust, or give up our fandom.

Unfortunately I agree with you that that is a likely scenario. If it comes to fruition, our only chance at reaching the FF is playing small ball. Garrison’s defense and propensity to take plays off are killing us. If he rebounded at an exceptional rate then you could forgive some of it, but he doesn’t. He’s actually a below average rebounder for a guy his size. And as much as I love Moreno’s potential, he gets winded quickly and is slow afoot.

Without JQ, small ball is our only chance to field a contender.

First off, I do the only thing constructive I can do. I watch and support the team. If you think you or anyone else can do anything different, then I’d suggest professional care. Second, I dunno about your life. Mind is good. Sorry if yours is not but that has crap to do with this team. Lastly, you ain’t seen nuthin yet. NIL and the portal are going to make this profoundly worse. Better truss-up because this sport is heading for a bumpy ride.

If he did not return in February, he will skip the season for the draft. It will damage our brand a lot

I think he will return in January.

But I am not 100% sure if he recovers well

He may be rusty in the whole season, or he is not as athletic as before. It may happen

What we could expect is hope JQ can 100% recover and only this will make us a final four contender.

What we can only do is hope.
