I'm thinking about buying one for my kid as their "primary" cowbell. They certainly look a lot cooler than the bookstore versions for sure.
Anyone own one? Do they sound differently then their bookstore counterpart? Their FAQ claims they are louder. Are they?
Are they heavier or lighter than the bookstore version of the same size?

I got one for Christmas last year and the quality really is as great as they claim. They are a lot louder, I took it to the liberty bowl, and it was noticeable louder than everyone around me. Loud enough to make people turn around with a wtf look on their face, not sure if that's a good thing or not. Probably a little heavier but I've never compared to my old one.

MUCH louder than even my 1980 solid welded bell which was always the loudest around me. I always got that same WTH look when i rang it but the BattleBell is even louder than it. They could be a little cleaner with their workmanship on the finish of the bell with cuts and welds, but overall satisfied. If everyone in the stadium converted to them, bells would be banned. It is that loud.

I'll echo what everyone else has already said, they a very loud compared to a standard cowbell. I got mine last September and used it all season. By the end of the season, I noticed one of the welds starting to separate. Their policy says they fix all malfunctions free of charge. I sent mine in a few months back and received it a week later all wrapped up and ready to go with no additional cost. I would actually acgue the bell is louder than my homemade bell and packs twice the punch. Prepare to get that WTF look all around you, and the occassional "you mind if i ring it?"
